Really? You can only put a shackle in one way on the standard one, while the Elite version you could use in multiple ways.

This what I mean by the Elite version. It seems more versatile then the standard one.

Yeah, but I look into how many times I'll be using it... And I don't think it will be that much. Idk, with how I use it I'm sure it will be enough. And I like it being less bulky.

I'd still go for versatility over "how many times am I going to use this." It's also not much bigger then the standard on. Maybe a 1/2" longer on the Elite version.

Eh, well it's more versatile than the hook that the winch comes with :p

@cbechtold finished my skid plate today! Ground most of it down, just a bit left but all the welding is done!

Added some sides to the skid to make it look visually better when on the truck.

    I got close enough lol

    Thanks!

I don't know if I would make another one without a plasma cutter. Cut off wheels take forever. Not to hard though! And kinda fun learning

You also need a pretty strong air compressor. Running a plasma cutting of a dinky little home depot 1hp compressor sucks. The one my dad has in like 7.5hp or something.

Might want to make a hole for the oil drain plug, and I recommend making a hole big enough to get your entire hand through, not just a ratchet extension. Like so:

Meh, I've gotten really good at taking it on and off.

But how did you go about making the hole?

I just used the angle grinder...Not the most efficient way, but it worked great. A fresh wheel will make the perfect sized hole. Taking it on and off for oil changes will get on your nerves I'm sure of it. Just make a hole now and don't wish you had one later

Also, having a hole will allow you to change the oil easily if you don't have a floor jack. And it'll make a mechanic happier if they don't have to remove the plate to get to the drain plug either (if a mechanic ever changes your oil)

That's not a skid plate :p Where's the skid at?

Little jealous over her about the winch coming together. Wish I was willing to dumb money into one :( Any idea what your going to be doing with the winch? Wiring the control box in to the engine bay and then running controls to the cab?

Going to first try to get the control box to fit somewhere in the bumper... If not then put it in the engine bay. Then I have the winch power cutoff solenoid that I'll need to wire also.. That's going in the engine bay also. Winch is wireless so I'll have the controls anywhere I want them.
