When you test drive the Taco, let us know what the differences are between the two power trains. Also when you test drive, Don't forget to look for the ECT power button.

You're a brave man, IMO. If you insist on a 2016 truck the Tacoma is the best based on stock ground clearance. 80 pages of annoying buzzy vibrations from hundreds of owners would make me wary.

List the specific things you do not like about the Canyon. Then we can give you better focused feedback instead of a random shitfest of onions. Or opinions. But some guys here really like their onions, too.

I never noticed any vibration issues on any of the 16 Tacomas I tested. It seems much more refined than my 2002. Quiet too. I understand the concerns about power but I don't think it is as bad as people are claiming. The GM twins do feel a lot better when accelerating though. I don't want to own another GM product though.

Maybe the OP is having buyers remorse and wants us to convince him to hop over to the Toyota side....

Some people didn't notice the vibrations on test drives, but there is now 80 pages of people frustrated. I wouldn't buy a Colorado because of the 8.4 inches ground clearance and the inboard rear shocks but if you want to buy 2016, those are your choices along with the Frontier, 8.4 inches ground clearance.

Look at some used 2nd Gen Tacomas, if they have the driveline shudder reject it (you'll feel the shudder more when you tow).

See if you can get a 2016 for 24 hours, hook the Casita up, run the truck through the paces be damned who the next owner is. Wash it and return it, or buy it.

These new midsizes seem way overpriced to me, not much bang for the buck.

I asked and he did a little. Said he didn't like the seats or some of the controls layouts for the audio system. I never thought I'd hear someone complain about the Canyon's seats being less comfy than the Taco's. I love Tacomas but have always had to add a seat cushion.

^I test-drove a 2015 Canyon. The seats and seating position are less comfortable than the Taco's.

Sounds like a lot of money to lose for the small things you'll gain in the Tacoma. I've had Chevys, dodges, and fords. I keep coming back to the Tacoma because they last and don't give major issues just out of warranty like the domestics. If you're going to make the jump sell it private party. Depending on what state you're in it's an easy process ad should yield you a smaller loss than trading it.

To be fair, the seats in the Taco are far from award winning (EDIT: in my 2015). I don't find it uncomfortable, but nothing special. The seats on my 04 GTO are much MUCH better. My wife struggles with back pain on road trips, because the passenger seat doesn't have lumbar support. I rode in a 2016 and noticed no real difference in the seats.

As far as the cruise control thing...thats an odd thing to get that bent about. I guess it could be the "last nail in the coffin" idea.

Personally, however, I would support your trade idea. Although the 3.5 is far from being as proven as the 4.0 was in the 2nd gen, its better than GM options. Every 4 or 6 cylinder GM vehicle I've owned has had MAJOR issues. We just traded in the wife's Spark which in 18 months of ownership has spent over 2 months in a shop (luckily with a rental through warranty).

The only time I would own a GM is if it comes with their 5.3 or 6.0 V8. They know how to make a v8 (GTO with 120k has had no issues), but nothing else from my experience.

Love it when people who DON'T own a 2016 shit talk about it. I have zero vibrations on mine, transmission fluid was not low, no buzzing... oh, and I actually own one.

They have an 8-way power driver seat. How could you fuck that up?

Tacoma should have 8-way power, it's so nice to get yourself in the perfect position instead of three preset positions and no tilt. It's basic if you want to be king of the hill, but Toyota listens to their customers and the survey said they want a big manly kind of grille and uh, yeah, that's about it for the Gen3. Survey said sunroof, so they slapped a manly grille on a Gen2 cab, slapped a sunroof on it, redid the rear body.

It's a Gen2 cab with a hognose front end, quieter if you seal up the rear cab vents and the door seals.

The Canyon's seat is too high (or the floor is too low). The cushion is too flat. The seatback doesn't offer enough lumbar support. And there's not enough side bolstering. Doesn't matter how many motors it has for power adjustment if the cushions are poorly designed.

The Tacoma TRD seats are the most comfortable seats I've sat in, better than my previous Mazda Millenia (which also had 8-way power adjustment), better than my current Subaru. Toyota simply does better ergonomic design. I don't care for power adjustment, since I don't let anyone else drive my truck.

I test drove the 2016 Colorado diesel last week. Seats were more comfortable than my 2016 Tacoma. Powertrain is more pleasing to drive in the turbo diesel Colorado by far. Interior is a bit cramped on the Tacoma but has a more solid and substantial feel to it even if it's almost a bit too crowded and busy. The Colorado feels bigger inside more space but also a bit more spartan yet the seats are adjustable and more comfortable than my tacoma. Bottom line.

I'd hold off on trading for anything just yet. Let equity build in your Colorado/ pay it down. See if tacoma is better later on in 2017. Right now too many issues

I really got the opposite when I checked both out. I'm a Chevy guy who was set on a Colorado.... but ended up with a Toyota after looking at both. I was way more comfortable sitting in the Taco.

I think this means the OP should go check out the Taco.... read about peoples issues here and take them with a grain of salt, then go see for yourself.

You don't have to own one to understand that this truck has problems To me it is no surprise considering this is a first year new design/engine I think the truck will get better over time.

I sat in both and the seats in the Colorado felt like sitting on bricks. After about a two hour drive you are going to need a back brace
