Anyone else need to constantly remember to not kick the door panel when getting out of their Taco? I keep kicking the door speaker area when exiting the vehicle. I thought it might be my big ole feet, but the Toyota Maintenance Manager told me that this was perfectly normal and a design feature of the vehicle. I think he is full of it.

Anyway, anyone else have this problem..... got any tips for cleaning, protecting the door?

Haha I do the same thing. I'll take a pic of the scuffs on the door panel.

I also ripped some nice pants climbing in because it's such an awkward position. I wish there was a handle to swing myself up. Otherwise I have to get in side saddle like a bitch (or risk ripping my crotch seam).

You've seen kick plates on doors right? Most of my post was in jest, but honestly, I keep kicking the door panel when getting out.

wtf!?! They seem to get dumber by the day. Does Toyota send out a list
of stupid replies all dealers are to give their customers?

It was a joke based on all the posts I read here. Nobody really said it was normal. I do kick it though. :(

When in doubt: "it's a feature." If they don't buy it: "it's a characteristic of the vehicle! Move along"

lmao! It does sound like something they'd say though.

Same here man and like you, I've made a point of avoiding it when I get out
.....before I put my foot right through the speaker.

I do the same thing and I wear size 8 shoes.

I did the same thing in my 2012 Camry and 2014 Yaris.

It's probably a mix of I don't know how to get out of my vehicles and the way the door panel is designed.

Remove the door panel and sell it. Remove the vapor barrier, clean off the goo stuff, and paint the structure to compliment in the interior.

The reduced thickness of the door will solve the 'kick it' issue. If not, touch up is easy, no cleaning required. The weight loss will gain you MPG, and you'll be able to service all door based components much easier.

Yep, I have had to make a point of not kicking the door as well, after doing so many times...
