It's the fanboism on this site. GM makes some good vehicles that are easy to maintain. Before the Taco, I had a 2002 S10 with 251,000+ on the clock when I sold it. I also had a Caprice Wagon with the LT-1 and 220,000+ on the clock when I sold it. Both had minimal issues associated with wear. The new twins will probably be pretty good trucks for the average buyer.

Of course if you listened to this board....
:rant:The Turd Gen is the biggest POS ever made and will implode before reaching 30,000 miles!!! Nothing at all like the best truck ever made which is a 2nd Gen Tacoma. Turd gen are worst trucks ever built!!!! Except the Canyon and Colorado of course!!!!!

Honestly I have lurked on the ColoradoFans forum and have not found nearly as many issues compared to the 16 Tacoma. That being said this was a year after start of production for this gen.

True, but look at the overall membership and traffic on both sites. I used to post there when I had my 06.

Made..past tense. I was a 20 yr GM driver and most every one was 10 yrs old when I purchased them. My 06 Colorado blew the top end at 70K and somehow nobody knows about the warranty on that which I found in 2 minutes online. Nice to be out 2 grand for a "free" repair, which is why I refuse to buy another GM

    ya I do.

    fleets of base models.

garbage starts happening at 10,000 miles and won't stop

two companies with a combined 40 canyons tossed out the lease and went with fords instead
fords have been way more reliable

Which engine did you have? I'll admit, I found the I5 to be quite repulsive and was disgusted GM made such a beast. I might have bought a 5.3L 4X4, but people want too much for them. The LS series engines are great.... I5, not so much.

Well spoken lol I came from a Honda Pilot touring and it was refined for 95% of it had its 3/6 Enginge management system noise but all of the suv's perks made the bad just a oversite. Now with my Taco I don't hear and noises buzzes or howls that I would not reasonably consider normal in a higher lifted truck with AT tires. If thoose who bitch about noises from their truck I think you should sell yours and buy a Lexus. IMHO
And I love my experience with my 2016 Taco.

really?! Just look through the 2nd Gen Colorado forums for a while there is easily just as much if not more bitching that goes on in there about the Colorado. Even some of it the same as what is seen here on the Tacoma forums.

    "Gear seeking"

My personal favorite... removing the fucked up GM air damn. http://coloradofans.com/forums/169-2nd-gen-appearance-body/202138-air-dam-worst-design-ever.html

Yeah and gear hunting is going to be the new normal. Smaller engines + more engine gears = more hunting. The redeeming quality of the Tacoma auto is that he shifts are smooth at least. I will RPM's bounce up but it isn't by any means unpleasant or jarring.

Hmmmm...I could be completely wrong here, but seems like the things you're complaining about and don't like are things someone could have easily discovered on a pretty simple test drive. So instead of getting our opinion on the matter and NOT making the same mistake twice, maybe you really need to go test drive a Tacoma. Would be a shame to have it for a few weeks or months then complain you don't like the way the seats feel or the way the mirrors adjust, or the placement of the ECT button, etc...

I personally wouldn't consider getting rid of a vehicle because it didn't have a CD player (again, you didn't notice that before you bought it if it was such an important feature for you?! (head scratching that one) or where the cruise control buttons are (unless you're a cruise control junky (but if you are again, didn't notice that before singing on the dotted line?!)

I had the 4 banger..they had the issue with the 4 and 5 both, 2004-2006 model years.

He's not trashing the 3rd Gen! He freakin' owns one and likes it. Apparently you have no idea about the concept of context and being able to understand what he's trying to say in his reply.

I wouldn't necessarily call the shifts "smooth". Acceptable yes, smooth, well, not all the time, especially when you're braking and slowing down it seems to be a bit clunky of a shifter at least with the auto.

Bummer. You would have figured they'd have the I4 nailed down... They had the Iron Duke, which Toyota copied for the Land Cruiser! I wonder if it was sourced from the same place as the I5. Anyway... good riddance! They should have kept the 4.3 in the trucks.... that was a great engine based off of their greatest engine (the small block chevy).

The fact that it happened at 70k of just commuter miles was annoying enough, for them to lie and cheat me was the last straw...and yup I remember the 2.5 Duke, had a few of those myself.

You really need to ask yourself this: Is the tacoma that much better to compensate for the BATH you will take come trade in time?
