That is interesting. Maybe I'm beating myself up for nothing. I do intend to get a lift and steel after market bumpers front and rear. I'll talk to my dealer today.
    Thanks for the insight.

Offroad also has a hydraulic brake booster that the Sport doesn't.

What is the advantage/disadvantage? Can I assume better braking power with the hydraulic booster?

Yes, a hydraulic assist provides much more braking power. However on a tacoma I'm not quite sure you'll reap the full benefits. I assume they put one on the offroad model because the hydraulic assist system helps keep brake fade from occurring.

With a manual transmission I do not think any additional breaking power would really be needed. I use engine breaking all the time. At 22k miles I did my lift. When I pulled the front wheels off the pads looked brand spanking new!

I hear you about that! I don't intend to overload the truck on a regular basis.

That is the conclusion I have come to! I now understand better how the whole system works.

You would be better off buying in Alberta because it has no Provincial Sales Tax

I met with one dealer's rep this weekend and I think I brought more knowledge to the meeting than I walked away with! I'm meeting with another this week.

With the decision to go with the 4x4 Sport and installing the after market lockers and suspension upgrades I want, will open my choices a lot.
