Well, with all due respect, the bashing can be legit at times. The bashing is lame though when it comes from lurkers who don't even own a 3rd Gen, but for whatever reason seem to feel the need to spend all their time here bitching and moaning based off of most likely one 5 minute test drive around the block, if they even test drove it at all. Just the other day I made a comment about parking next to a 2nd Gen and how much better I thought the 3rd Gen looked, and that it even looked bigger and meaner, and the 2nd Gen guys just felt the need to come out of the woodwork and puffed up their chests and took to way too personal. Aside from the auto transmission I like everything else about the truck. But yes I can see how that gets a bit tiresome when the other people who have no place commenting start to. They're probably a bunch of guys who dumped a ton of money into "mods" on their 2nd Gen (that they probably never even use most of the time) and are underwater to the point where they'd lose their shirt if they sold their truck and know deep down they can't have a 3rd Gen, so they have to bash the rest of us. Instead of losing their shirt on the mods and dick measuring they could have paid their truck off much faster and been in a better place to upgrade sooner. whatever floats your boat.

Not sure I want a 3rd gen anyways, as they don't make single cab which is all I need. Not that I'm looking anyways, I have a year to pay still on my '10 and I want to get 5 or more yrs payment free afterwards.

If you actually read the 80 pages like I have, you would see its the same 20 or so people posting--and trying to find a solution. It's not like all 80 pages were all independent folks with the issue. My truck doesn't have the vibration, but I test drove a truck with it. Nobody has any real concrete data on how many trucks this problem affects, but it's not nearly as huge as you think.

I took a $4,500+ bath when I traded in my 2015 Colorado last November for my Tacoma. I think I did alright.

I had the Colorado and got 22K trade in when I bought the Tacoma. I had just over 2400 miles on the Colly.

Not sure if any midsize will continue to have a regular cab.

Late Summer, or Fall of 2017. I imagine it will resemble the Colorado in size.

Look at it this way. Get in your car/truck drive down the highway say for a hour or so. Count the number of Tacoma and Colorado's year 2005 through 2012 on the roads. I am not sure where you live but in my area for every Colorado in that year span I see 3 tacomas in that same year span. GM products still have a long way to go.

That in and of itself wouldn't make my decision, but it would be ideally all I want. But I get it, single seems to just be fleet applications.

To be fair, GM floods the market with full size trucks. You can easily buy a lower to mid trim level GM full size pickup for what an equipped Tacoma goes for.
GM also has had almost 40+ years on Toyota when it comes to selling trucks in the US, the first hilux hit the US market in the 70s. GM has been cranking out trucks since the 30s.

The fact you see a large number of Tacomas on the road still is a testament to their quality and reputation.

Why the big three even bother with midsize trucks is beyond me, each one is setup to crack out full-size trucks all day long without stopping.

I guess its solely to take small bites from Toyotas bottom line. Probably what Toyota does with the Tundra to the big three.

Don't forget there are brand loyalists of all kinds. One reason I bought a Colorado in 2007 is I drove GM for many yrs before. I have no need for a full size truck either.

I'm starting to feel like I don't need a truck period anymore. Maybe a 2017 "Hot Lava" RAV4 AWD in my future. :) Or Electric Blue!

What is it that you would say you do need a truck for? Just curious

The RAV is a nice ride, my wife has a 2005 she bought after her 96 Tacoma was bought back

...^^^... I had some experience with a RAV4 AWD and a CRV AWD ... both are great vehicles and do well on slick roads.

You drop 2-3 MPG's for AWD in both of those vehicles ... but it's worth it.

but he said he wants the 2017. by then they'll probably have a lot of these said bugs and problems everyone is complaining about fixed.

which is why I'm waiting till the 2017 to buy mine. fuck seriously anyone complaining needs to shut the fuck up. you buy the first model year and not expect any bugs? you're an idiotic twat then. Everyone should know that.
I'm still convinced whoever they question are definitely not people that are truck owners. seriously when I asked toyota canada they said we didn't get the trd off road as the 4 door because their focus groups said 'they wouldn't be interested in it'

yet there's plenty of people complaining that we got shafted and don't have the option for the 4 door. they probably surveyed soccer moms and dads going through a midlife crisis, came up with the grill idea. and didn't even ask about the OR. Seriously there are a lot of vehicles canada doesn't get because of focus groups. We don't even have the landcrusier here.

It is true that with any new model to expect problems though.
But at the same time, if 1 out of every 5000 new owners report a slight buzz you can bet many will say its a problem with every truck.
Truthfully I dont doubt for a second its a great truck. I've test driven 5 different ones. love it. Only reason I haven't bought it yet is saving for a better down payment and waiting to see if canada will get the TRD Pro. If not I'll get the trd sport and hopefully any kinks will be worked out for the 2017.
