Careful about being told what you want to hear, ya don't want to throw away logic because you want an excuse to buy the truck. I wouldn't touch that thing.

@badhaircut Don't buy that POS for $23k. Offer $13k and walk away

This is a very good point thanks. I have fallen in love with the truck but the frame... I think I am going to have a mechanic look at it and see what he says. The truck was recently certified though so dont they check frame integrity?

pass because of the price or because of the rust? I'm wondering how this truck can pass certification with such a rusted frame

I would pass. 22k is a lot of money to spend on something with a rusty frame. I am a commercial fishermen and I deal with steal and rust every day. The only way you are going to get rid of it is to pull every thing off the frame and sandblast it and then paint. Not worth it. Keep looking you will find something better.

Dude your in Ontario everything is rusty out there. You should also mention that you get enough snow to cover a full size truck up to its roof. and that the winters are 9 months long. I paid 36500 for my 2015 TRD sport brand new in B.C.

There are endless numbers of used Tacoma on the market, you'll fall in love with another in better condition. Have a mechanic check it out but for that price there's another one out there with a much better frame, guaranteed.

No matter how good a deal it is, it'll be next to worthless if the frame rots through and you can't drive it.

Even if you can get a new frame for free you still have to deal with getting it put on. Some guys have had to wait months.... If im going to spend 20+k on a truck I sure as hell am not going to buy one with a major issue.

My wife had a Honda Passport. That thing was awesome. The interior was perfect, the engine ran great, nice wheels and big fat tires, and then the rear drivers side shock went through the frame and into the cargo section in the back. There was so much rust under there. It was so sad. I sold it for engine parts for 500$. If the frame is rusted, stay away from it. It is the same as buying a house where the foundation is turning from concrete to sand.

You're right about weather and rust in Ontario. These trucks are a hot ticket item here and sell fast. This truck has been listed for 2 months at 25 grand and to be honest, if the frame was not as rusty, and the seller was not located in bum f$#k nowhere it would have already sold. Check out the trader and Kijiji motors and you will see what I'm talking about when it comes to pricing.
    Look for yourself

    2010 TRD double cab http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/...ma-sr5-v6-reverse-camera-bluetooth/1099274934

2006! Not TRD double cab with accident history and a dented frame apparently http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/...v6/1168294932?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

    2015 TRd with 60,000km http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/...5a/1142888659?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

My point is that the prices here are ridiculous and 36 grand will not buy me a new tacoma trd

Gotcha just wanted to check. Most everyone who replied here is from the US so I'm not sure they're accounting for the exchange rate...

Don't buy any used vehicle without having your own mechanic put it up on the hoist and have a good look at it. You don't have 23k to waste so don't do it.

    One tip.

A mechanic should look over the mechanicals for you, and examine the frame for an opinion.

But if I wanted someone to really inspect a frame, I'd use a body shop that I knew, and they did frame repairs as part of their collision work.
