To install the center caps, the wheel needs to come off? If you don't put on the center cap, os there just an open hold or is it black underneath?

It slides on through the back. And yeah it's just the wheel hubs if you don't have the caps on. Just a hole through the wheel.

in the past, i have noticed that retailers use blanket warnings over varying years... their 16s won't work on a 2nd gen tacoma due to the change in the caliper size/design, so while it may fit on an older gen taco, they will state that the wheel will not work with all tacomas to cover their liability, etc...

I agree I was hoping there were other styles. Like a flat one or something. I think it looks too big also but I don't like seeing the hub there haha.

Just FYI. I have this same wheels and they barely clear the calipers by 2-3 milimiter. I mean they are ALmost touching.

now that i think about it, you are one of the very few that those wheels didn't clear... the steel version 8 hole wheels never cleared except for the ones from Wheeler's Offroad, but the alloy versions were fine...

Interesting. They fit my Tundra brakes just fine. Barely clear but they do.

but they cleared without a spacer right? oh wait, on a first gen or second gen? the first gen seemed to have more tolerances in wheels than the second...
