I want to thank tacoma world and everyone for posting concerns about the trans fluid and how these dealers keep taking advantage of us I'm glad i did my research and learned how to take care of it. I got my tacoma service this thursday in hopes of trying to have the transmission fluid checked physically. I took it and lied about my check engine light turning on and that my truck began stalling from reversed to drive and vice versa, at first the service manager said that he was only able to use the techstream, and he was trying to void out my warranty because he thought i had tampered with my transmission but i told him i had never touched it, but the reason for stalling only meant my trans fluid was low. In the end they finally decided to physically check it and guess what? it was 2 QUARTS LOW!!!!! I've only had it for 6 months how insane is that.... i urge most you to step up and push for them to physically check it. i was amazed how much smoother the ride was, i advise most of you to take care of it soon.
Good luck everyone !!! WE NEED A TSB ASAP

I WANT TO THANK @gearcruncher FOR POSTING THAT THREAD. =]

Read my report and you see.

I may have mine checked just to be sure since I have the tow package too. I guess you can't be too sure with these things.

I guess I should be paying more attention, so I have to ask. Is this tranny fluid issue with the 6cyl only. I have the 4 banger.

For sure man! Thank you Tacoma World! I too would have never known about this problem. Who would think a problem like this would occur being that it's a new rig! I had mine serviced today. I was 1/2 qt low at 800 miles. I can't believe Toyota has not made an official statement yet. I can definitely see some legal issues coming.

No it has been people with and without and the tow package is just someones guess.
Because if it was the tow package each of those trucks would be low pretty much the same amount. but the amount of fluid owners are low on has varied from 1/2qt-2qt so pretty sure the tow package has zero to do with it.
    Who keeps spreading this
