tires that stick out past the truck body?

i see a lot of trucks that have tires that stick out past the actual body of the truck when looking at the truck head on, how is the acheived? a lift? spacers?

Long Travel kits?

you can use spacers, or have wheels with a deep backspacing.

 

Spidertrax spacers, Wider rims with wider tires are a couple of ways.

 

What are you running? I think I saw you post somewhere but cant remember

Mine stick out about 3/4-1" with Spidertrax wheel spacers and 285/75/16 tires.

 

Don't spacers and large-offset wheels put more strain on the wheel bearings? Maybe this is something to be concerned about, for those of us who want the wheel bearings to last a long time? Or maybe I am just a jackass?

 

Positive offset wheels on mine. Stock is like -30 and my rims are +6. Wheel spacers have already been mentioned.

 

The offset/backspacing thing has to be explored wheel by wheel...because you can change the offset and backspace and the same time to put the weight in the same place.
Wheel spacers create a moment in the hub that was there before...but lots of folks run them without issues. Smaller spacers should create immediate problems. Down the road- I've seen just as many non-spacered hubs/bearings fail as ones with spacers.
