Thanks everyone I couldn't do it without the help of my welding buddy @Wheelspinner . We knocked out one side in 4.5 hours which was pretty incredible. Realistically I won't actually be getting 35's till hopefully July but I wanted to be prepared if the time came sooner.

There are many reasons why I wanted 35's and most of it was due to the trails/people I wheel with. We do really hard trails at the offroad park and I knew 35's would be the eventual path for me so I didn't want to even hit the 33 phase if I didn't need to. So going from 32's to metric 35's will be pretty damn awesome. Next up after this will be to save for 5.29's and front locker.

Fair enough. Mine are still going good after a couple hundred miles but I guess we will see

Look at it this way, 1st gen Tacoma run 300,000 400,000 miles and more on OEM parts so way not keep it OEM. There is a reason they last so long.

    Go 5.29s.

Hopefully soon. Putting around town will be fine but highway is pretty much useless.

I try my best to keep everything from Toyota. But I just didn't have the money to spend so much on ball joints and they just needed to replaced, and moog had decent reviews so I chose them for now. My next time around I will likely go for Toyotas if needed

I've looked into 5.29s. They're just a bit more than I think I'll need. Granted, that's based solely on my number crunching on various online calculators, which show me seeing about 150rpm over stock tires/gears with 4.88s at 65mph, versus about 400rpm over stock with 5.29s. As for crawl speed improvements, that's what the dual case is for. In compound low range, at 1000 rpm in 1st, it shows a speed of 0.46mph for 4.88, and 0.42mph for 5.29. Final drive ratios are 226:1 with 4.88s, and 245:1 for 5.29s.

All that said, other people's experiences are a huge factor, and I'm always willing to listen.

    Thanks for the input!

That would be nice, at stock width. But nobody is willing to make them...yet.

Everyone is always worried about keeping their rpms down. Also i found the calculations to be only half true.

First off, our motors are totally happy to motor along at 3k rpms. I'm getting the best mpg then ever before. Still not great, but I mean com'on. Look at my truck. IDGAF anymore anyways haha

As of the calculations. The number proved right in relation to my speedo but totally wrong on actual travel speed. As in when my speedo reads 65 I'm only about 400rpm higher then stock. However, to actually be going 65mph, I need my speedo to read about 75mph. Little less give or take.

This is meassure with a GPS.

And low range is freaking epic low. So low I almost do t see the point of spending another 3 grand on a double case setup. 3 grand is a lot of money.

4.88s wouldn't be worth it. If your going 35s, to fully use them 5.29s is hands down the best option.

Only lt kit I've seen that uses uniballs is a DD kit.

I'm not sure Id do uniballs. They wear out much faster.

I looked into getting stock width ones made, wasn't cheap, around 1200-1500 bucks for a set

I didn't bother reattaching my intake to the header heat shield after installing my LCE. I don't see it as a problem. If anything, I feel that it may lessen the likelihood of plastic shattering on serious impacts, especially if my engine starts to move more with age.
    Well, colour me convinced!

Although I may still cheap out on CVs and tie rods...:anonymous:

It's funny two of those photos are mine..ha

Cvs are fine. Hard to beat the life time replacable warranty. That said..OEM ones will not break as easily. Tie rods. Eh. Probably be fine

Tie-rods?! Hah! I'll bend them on a rock before they have a chance to fail, doesn't matter if they're manned by Moog or NASA/JBL bahaha

Most auto parts stores will replace any cv you break for life. Problem is that they do break easier then OEM. But they always honor it.

    Or blown boots.

Well that's great to know! Speaking of boots, why in the actual Feck aren't there replacement tierod boots? Toyota employees never seem to understand my incredulity when this topic comes up.
