What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Yep, for some reason Toyota thinks it makes sense not to stock them as a replacement part. You can buy new inner and outer tierods from them, but you can't buy a boot. It's hilarious. For a shit piece of rubber you'd think they'd give you one with a new inner tie rod end.

The low end one seems cheap enough if it truly is good. I spose neoprene might be a better call than crap rubber that dries out and cracks... dunno if I can be bothered really though, it's not like the boot is that important anyway.

Oh cheers mate! Well now I feel like an ass. Although, to my credit... I have argued with a couple of Toyo employees at length on how it makes no sense for them not to offer replacement boots. They swore up and down that they do not offer them, can not get them, and that other than on the factory assembly line the boots don't exist. How did these people ever graduate high school?

 

Can you verifiy all of these were moog joints that broke?

 

This happened to a friend of mine back in 2006, his truck was used hard in the woods for 7 years or so. He went to a local junk yard and picked one up.

 

Wasn't there a recall on 1st Gen oem lbj's ?

 

@Blackdawg or anyone else that's connected an ARB compressor Please help.

Im trying to get my ARB compressor connected and there is a red and yellow in the loom that is suppose to connect to a 12v supply and the directions say connect it to a lighter wire. Which I think I found. Im connecting it to the red wire from the three wires on the lighter wires. Good or not good?

But this is where Im really lost. There is a blue and white wire also, that I need to connect to a dash light. OK WTF! how can I find a correct dash light. any advice on where to connect the blue and white wire would be great!

I think you are missing the point...

 

Don't use the dash light one. Connect the power to a fused source straight from the battery. I wouldn't do the cig lighter unless you are taking about the switch?

 

You only hook up the dash light dimmer of you want a light on when you turn on the headlights . I didn't want that.

 

If that's what it's for then nope. I really don't care.

 

It's for the switch.

 

Looks like bolts came out on that bottom one. Im always checking mine in fear ahaha

added a full size spare! went from the original factory 15 year old unused 265/70/r16 bridgestone dueler with side sections worn to the cords from rubbing on the mount arms for the last 255,800mi to an 265/75/r16 goodyear silent armor with kevlar that only had <2000 miles on it from my old truck. not the greatest tire ever but it was $18 as I already had the tire...
I had replaced it on my other truck when the authority A/T's went on sale and I had only 2 matching out of 5...

 

No I can not, I am not saying they were, just showing what happens when any of them break or bolts come out.

Yes they were, but Toyota tried to correct the problem, MOOG just keeps selling theirs.
Just trying to help, not trying to defend Toyota, just putting the info out there, if you still think there are better parts then OEM I wish you nothing but the best of luck.

Checked all the connections it's getting power but not turning on....

 

I unhooked mine long ago. Little to flashy on a truck if u ask me.
