Started the trail but ended up turning around because we where with the Tundra. Took a fire road all the way back to Sierra Hwy.

    I know..:crapstorm:

I couldn't find the video I was looking for. I saw it on ig. Was a much better example.

Anyhow, I think it's possible. Just built more for fast, with the ability to soften it up for the crawl.

Wait.. Gearing might be a hurdle huh?

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Never said it couldn't, but it doesn't do it nearly as well as a solid axle would, additionally: the shock valving is very different for 80mph of desert than it is for 3mph of rocks. Not to mention a long travel rig is going to much prefer to not carry the types of gear an "Overlander" would.

I'm totally up for another run at Rowher before the big meet next month, I'm bummed I couldn't stick around for the lookout trail some of you hit up after. My dad's a weenie and needed to go have lunch lol. He had fun though, I'm slowly trying to persuade him into joining the Tacoma family by getting a 3rd gen :boink: :D

Well then I guess I'll have to settle for building a badass trail rig that handle going fast-ish

It's doable. Example A is @4x4runner2002 likes rock crawling but I've been with him in Anza Borrego flying around pretty fast. He seems to have figured out how to do it, but maybe because he picked the superior 4Runner :luvya:

I've reached a point where I'm sort of distracting myself from actually getting this to work fully right now. Keep hitting these stupid routing issues and I'm about tired of it.

I hate the whole SAS vs IFS argument. SAS is more traditional but that doesn't mean it's better. Yes there are cases where a IFS rig will roll where a SAS rig won't, but the opposite is also true. I know I'm probably gonna take some shit for that opinion but whatever. We had a great discussion about it over on T4R about it. I can find the thread if anyone is interested, I found it a pretty interesting read myself

No issues with the Tundra, just that my bro had his pregnant girlfriend in the truck and we decide not to risk it.

I watched a KOH film and they talked about how far advanced IFS is now and that a high percentage of the guys up front were running IFS.

You're narrowing in on an irrelevant point. Solid axles can fly, they're strong as hell. Independent suspension is more controllable. It's not just how the wheels attach to the frame that makes a Baja Racer not equivalent to a rock crawler. For racing you need a long wheel base and wide reach for stability, for crawling you want a short wheel base to minimize breakover and height. The entire truck is built differently for each and the needs of one and other are opposed.

    :gocrazy: that looks fun.

    yup
