whats your guys take on bump stops... king vs fox.. i have king shocks coming with my dtf kit and im checking out some bump stops.. is there a reason fox bumps are cheaper then kings other then brand name? pinch bolt vs threaded, internals?... kartek showing 255$ for kings and 194$ for fox. and i guess "looks" wise it would be nice to match king with king.. but if i can save a buck here and there that would be nice to

This is why I'm running all King shocks, but when a deal on Fox bumps popped up I swooped. They do the same shit.

 

Pipe method worked great, thanks for the advice. But now problem number two... The compression ring on the axle snapped in half and now I'm at a loss of where to get one. No auto parts stores carry them. I guess just fashion one out of steel from Lowes?

 

Since i am redoing my front end i decided to go all new. So i figured if im getting new may as well match it all. So my CO and bypasses and bumps are all king. Just personal preferance since im starting fresh. But on my last kit i did kings and fox bumps

 

Boot kit from the dealer. 54-64 bucks a pop. Youll need 2. One for each side. I had to buy 2 just for 2 fucking retainer rings.

In case you haven't taken it into consideration, you should set up your bumps to bump off the upper control arm. Bumping off the lca's on our trucks is pretty lame. Going with the dtf kit and fabbed spindles gives you the luxury or bumping of the uca, I'd recommend boing so

Can you bump off the UCA with a TC kit/gusseted spindle too? Trying to decide if I want to do the rubber bumps on the LCA or not

 

thanks for all the replies guys.. i was thinking there couldnt be much difference between the 2 companies.. ill prolly end up just going with fox then to save some money, not to much money.. but saving is saving.. and id be getting the 4" stroke so i can bump off the upper.. seems like the best option so the bumps dont engage till the last bit of travel.. looking at other LT setups that bump off the lower it seems the bump in engaged for a good part of the travel.. not really sure if that matters though

Reasoning? I was thinking with bypasses you could possibly bump off the actual bolt itself?

 

You're more than welcome to try, and with tuning the bump zone of the bypasses you may get away with it. But a properly built boxed spindle is far stronger than your standard reinforced spindle.

Who knows, maybe you're talking about some crazy reinforced spindle like the tundra spindles on the trophy fj. I'm not even sure how they would hold up, as we've never really seen a close up of them.

Any body have a picture of their trail gear boxed frame for a first gen? im planning on welding mine this week and want to get an idea of what it should look like. Thanks
