    No mods whatsoever!
Subd. Same here, except w/o dvd. Also needs to have harness adapter.

I'm in the same boat for a new headunit. I'm between the apple play and the model with the GPS built in. If I change out my headunit with my new audio system I plan on getting new Kenwoods line. I just checked with crutchfield. They did not get a release date yet. The new models are suppose to be much faster.

Curious too if AppleCar Play will every be bluetooth, rather than using a physical cord.

I think the new Kenwood line will be. If you call crutchfield they are very helpful. I have bought products from them.

You could always wirelessly broadcast to the headunit from the phone using Chromecast.

I'm just speaking from what I have now. I have a Kenwood dvd and GPS in my other car for 3 years and I love it. Never a problem with it. It is hooked up to a killer audio system. Their are bad reviews on pioneer and Kenwood. I think it is the luck of the draw.

Installed a Pioneer AVH-4200NEX last week that supports CarPlay and couldn't be happier. Works so much better than Entune.

Yes it does have the auto eq but I haven't used it yet. I agree it sounds amazing and so much better than the stock unit. What kind of sub do you have?

Can you still use your steering wheel controls with these devices?

Do they alone improve sound quality significantly? I know some head units can make a big difference alone.

Can you tell us how easy the buttons are to push while trying to drive? I don't like the full on touch screen headunits. I like the buttons just because I feel they are safer to operate while driving. I notice these units have buttons but they almost look like a touch/button hybrid lol.

Yes you can still use the steering wheel controls. With my head unit I also got the Maestro box which lets you configure your steering wheel controls. For example where it was mentioned that the seek/search are backwards with the maestro you can fix that.

Buttons are very easy to push on the head until but I normally just use steering wheel controls.

Sound is much more improved with this head unit over the factory unit.

With harnesses from Crutchfield you don't have to splice into your harness at all or at least I didn't have to. Also my new unit will except the iDatalink by maestro and with that you can change the steering wheel controls so they aren't backwards.

Does the 4200NEX with with the Maestro adapter work with 2016 Tacoma with the factory JBL setup? Crutchfield listed the 4200NEX as "not compatible" with the JBL setup. I jumped on a chat with a rep at Crutchfield, they said they haven't tested it on 2016 JBL Tacoma yet so they listed like that. Since the Maestro can turn on the factory amp, I can't see why this wouldn't work with the factory JBL amp.

I have a 2011 and didn't need to splice anything into the harness. I only had to tie power and ground into the harness I used to hook up my AppRadio (Pioneer SPH-DA120) with.

I used this model below to plug into the factory steering wheel connector:
Metra 70-8114 Steering Wheel Control Wire Harness with RCA for 2003-Up Select Toyota/Scion/Lexus Vehicles. ** Please note this unit came with another (i.e. 2nd) wiring harness that you plug into the control module that metra provides. I realized after ordering and for a few minutes was confused on where it went.

Here is the steering wheel control interface I used which required no programming. If I want I can program it to act differently with my AppRadio but have not found a need/want yet to go through all that.
