What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Ok, i cannot leave well enough alone. A 265/70r17 is 10.43" wide and 31.6". This means you only need .3" more clearance for height. I am inclined to think they will fit no problem.

 

They should fit fine with just the pinch weld mod.

 

Anyone in here install a shorter radiator ? 18 or 20" currently have a 22" and considering keeping it so I don't overheat with the sc . But the short ones look way better

 

Interesting theory. Mark had to cut a hole as big as mine too...

And you sure it cleared at full stuff and full lock with 4"bs? I'm pretty sure a new tire won't allow that..

Yup full lock, full stuff. Aside from slight frame rub we rubbed on nothing. Lca was jacked up till the bump stops on them were crushed and we were lifting the truck. With what we clearanced we had more rub on the body mounts hence some heavy body mount cutting too. It also helped that I had beaten the fuck out of the firewall previously and we beat it back a decent amount after the cutting too. I hundred percent know I won't rub with the metric 35's. By the time I potentially go full 35 I will be getting 3.5" bs f5's so I think I'll be good no matter what. And even if I rub a little the bfh can fix that too.

Sadly I probably won't get the tires till beginning of July, want to get the absolute most out of the current tires I got but want to be ready in case one of these tires bust on me.

My biggest internal debate I am having now is how high on the fender I cut. I kind of hate the flare mounting holes being exposed but also worry It will be way too high and it will look stupid. Either way it's a temporary solution till I get glass.

 

Yea the holes in 01-04s are a bummer. You'll have to trim the bottoms for sure but might be able to get away with very little on the top. I just went 1.75" all around. But I'm sure 1-1.5" would be plenty

 

Finally got around to installing my DBZ custom grill! Fit/finish/quality is excellent, thanks Danny!

 

Got my winch installed, but I can't spool it all the way in- the stupid hood latch support is in the way. I've still got about 20' of rope left. Is this something I can do without? I'd like to just cut it at the top below the bottom of the latch bracket and undo the bottom bolt.

 

I contemplated the same thing, but was able to move my radiator up about 1.5". It was enough that it doesn't hang down crazy far anymore. I just re drilled new holes and swapped in a lower manual hose.

 

Is the manual hose a better fit ? I did exactly that and my manual hose is tight fit. I have a spare 20" radiator

 

It was tight, but there was no way my original hose would fit. I just went to the auto parts place and got a hose that was bent about an inch shorter.

 

Cool yeah my manual hose is slightly kinked and touching the frame

 

I'm trying to remember when I did mine, i might have cut a bit off the hose.

 

This is my spare 20" rad. The damn bolt is stuck in

 

Drill and tap?

 

Or if possible heat up the bolt with a torch and see if it will back out that way don't know if that would harm radiator though

 

Needled nosed vice gripes on the outside of the ribs to keep them from bending

 

That part plastic?

 

Gonna try to drill it out. Can't use heat because the plastic will melt
