Just got back from the local dealer. They pretty much told me to get bent, since it's past the date. So much for Toyota quality...will be my last one for sure.

I think you'll find most manufacturers only warranty items for the stated warranty period but good luck to you

I got mine replaced last year for my 09', and the damn things are doing it all over again! I might try again, and then swap the running bulb out with an LED so they dont melt. Dumb ass design.20160528_124210.jpg

If you do try again, you'll be paying for the replacements out of your own pocket.

But those look like the old lights...the new replacements have a different pattern to the dtrl lens.

They do look like the old lights. Here are what mine looked like right after they were updated:
The lense insert for the DTRL's looked different. By your pictures it looks like they pulled the same flawed headlight assemblies to replace the original headlight assemblies.
If I'm not mistaken you should have received an updated part from your dealer, not the same flawed part.

Here is what the same side looked like before the headlight was changed:
Looks a lot like your second set.

Yep! @glandnut...it looks like your dealership didn't put in the updated light assembly. Hence the reason you are having the melting problem.

They won't...all claims had to be made by November of last year IIRC.

Off topic question..but what did you do to the your old headlights? I installed aftermarket HLs so I have my old ones taking up space in my garage...can they be salvageable?

To continue to beat the dead horse, I brought mine to the local dealer who has been good to me and they said my warranty wouldn't cover lights. Showed them the TSB, they said they'd try to work with the warranty company but no dice. 99,500 miles. Was hoping to get at least some value out of the warranty I paid way to much for.

My replacements are starting the same thing. I told them they needed to replace them again with the updated lights not the old crap they put in. I was at 99,5xx. They took pics and are going to let me know.

I have cracking in mine (2010), TSB is past date and I'm out of warranty of course. I did call the customer service line and pleaded my case, they offered me a goodwill $500 reimbursement on parts/installation. So I just ordered my replacement headlamp assemblies from Camelback Toyota for way cheaper than my local dealer was going to charge me. I may still have the local dealer do the install, out of pocket, with the install should be less than $200 which is probably worth my time savings by doing it myself :)

Pulling the front bumper is a cake job do it yourself and have a friend help lay out a blanket and lay it rear side down.
