Sorry, didn't mean to sound like an ass. I went out and checked mine and noticed it's just slightly off. It's not a big deal but now that I know about it my OCD will probably make me say something about it when I go in for my first service.

I didn't take your response to sound like you were being an ass. So hard to tell tone of voice with this dang interweb sometimes. ;) With this being my first "new" vehicle in almost 20 years and my first Tacoma, there's a lot that I don't know about them and a lot that I have learned from being on this forum. Like you, my OCD kicked in when I saw the gap and my first thought was that some one hit my bumper while parked and it crumpled slightly from the impact. I couldn't see any other signs of damage so my next response was to ask y'all on here about it. Hopefully I didn't send a whole bunch of Tacoma owners running to their rear bumpers to check them out and find nothing's wrong. It's just that for having it for a little over a week, parking the hell away from everyone else, and knowing that this is a 15 year truck for me, I was shocked to see that much of a gap. I just didn't know if this was made with a purpose in mind or something that needs to be addressed by the dealership.

According to my VIN, it was made in TX. What was the response when you took it in the first time?

Thats awesome, but lifting them over my head by myself would get exhausting i think. Id realize how out of shape i was then LOL

I just do this.... Nowhere near as cool looking but works fine.

Everything gets tied down with 1800lb "mule tape". Its not going anywhere.

With this little boat i have to put all the gear in the back seat, folded down, until i get to the water. The batteries, trolling motor, and gear add quite a bit of weight.

I have loaded and unloaded this boat by myself. It's doable, Although it is MUCH easier with help.

Works out. My rod brackets and ultra lights still fit well with the boat and kayak too.

After washing the bird shat off my black paint I'm left with what looks like dried spit. This irks me. Now you have me curious about my bumper caps. I don't they will irk me as much as the dried spit etched in my black paint. Trying not to look at it like the other guy said about his bumper gap. (But I know it is there)

What size boat is that? I have the Pelican 10E .. just bought my new Tacoma and have yet to have the boat in it. I have the access cab with 6' bed and was actually unsure if the boat would fit between the wheel wells in the bed .. now i know it will

Maybe the specs don't match what was promised. But I own a couple of these and they do exactly what I bought them for every time I need them to. They jump a dead car after leaving them uncharged for a year. Great product regardless.

9.6'. It's the bass hunter ex. I have the short bed but it's still no issue. I have only had the boat a couple months but already used it close to a dozen times.

I debated this vs the raider and decided on this, not thinking either would fit but got lucky. I had planned to use planks but ended up not needing them.

I'm not sure the pelican Will fit. I emailed a guy that had one before purchasing this boat and I was told it wouldn't fit due to the tacoma wheel wells being more narrow than most trucks. I believe iirc, it's 43" between the wells and he said the bottom of the pelican was a bit wider. Now i don't know the guy or even know if he actually measured it... I just found him on a bass fishing forum and sent a message...

This one just barely fits, luckily the pontoons are slimmer and go up right past the wells.

Give it a try, I'm interested to know if the pelican actually fits too. Though i do love the little bass hunter ex.

So you just got 1000 people out looking at their bumper.....

And mine is ridiculously off which also puts the outside edges out of wack of course. Mine is out by 3/8". But my truck appears ok and that is just poor quality control, poor craftsmanship.

I am more concerned with the flat leaf springs when I only carry 100 lbs in the back.

The leaf springs are normal, that's how they all look on the 3rd Gen and 2nd Gen.

I wondered what that sound was. Now I know it was all the owners running out to check their bumpers. Sorry about that but given the discrepancies in the spacing, just wanted some other opinions besides my own. And given the rain you and I are getting today here in the northeast, wondered if that would collect in the bumper or simply run out without any damage. And you're right, for a company to be so good at quality control when my father worked there, this is disappointing. Love everything else about the truck though.

Here was my way around getting charged for the oil change at 5000 miles. In the manual it says if you tow and do mostly stop and go driving, the oil should be changed at 5000 mile increments. Service writer didn't debate and changed the oil as the owners manual stated. Use their recommendation to accomplish the oil change. I do occasionally tow a camper and trailer, I was being honest.
