Damn, the last TRD Pro Tundra I saw for sale here (Hawaii) was over $50k. I didn't even bother to ask for a test drive lol

Just curious. Why the 2017 Pro as opposed to the 2017 OR or sport. You did say you were new to off-reading

Agreed. I think the taco Pro is over rated as well.

There are couple dealers here in socal that has the T4R for 56K and other one for 47k. Crazy dealer mark ups.

I'm not sure how something can be overrated when it's not even out yet and we don't have a firm price yet.

I'm not taking anything away from a 4x4 TRD OR... it is a GREAT truck. But the Pro will have additional features some people would like to have and are willing to pay the extra funds. That is it.

I've got 2 years to go before buying a new truck, and I can't wait to see what happens with the Pro and its price. For me, it's THE prime contender.

That could be said for anything. Sure, you could make a BMW 328 that out perform a M4, or even a base model Suzuki samurai to out perform ford raptor. but you get much more value than what you pay. the MSRP will most likely be over 2-3k more than the offroad which is nothing. Not to mention the exclusivity and the warranty that it comes with.

Like I said, no need to justify what you want to do to anyone else. If that's the truck you want and you're happy with the price, then go for it. Wasn't criticizing you or anyone else who wants it, just stating my opinion, just like everyone else is doing.

Don't get me wrong, I'll probably end up with the OR instead of the Pro. All I'm saying is the value is there as long as there is no dealer mark-up.

The value is there only if it's worth it to you! For some it's a great value, for others it's overpriced and unnecessary. Obviously it's worth it for a ton of people because of the buzz that it's creating and the number of people who are saying they'll get one, have deposits on them, etc. THat's why there are different models and trims of the same truck. Different strokes for different folks.

LOL, the topic is 3rd gen, you do not have to own a Gen 3 to post... come on man. I also disagree with your opinion that Pro owners will be mallcrawling bros. Some will, just like some current non-Pro Tacoma owners are, but I don't get your rationale on why more would be Pro... or even why it matters.

A lot of people are like me, and when we go to buy, we'll be eyeing the most capable machine out of the box. And if the price is worth to us, we'll get it. Why is that such a scandal? Honestly, it seems a lot of the negativity towards the Pro is coming from 2016 owners... and we can all guess why that is.

Living for years in Southern California probably influences that rationale about the mall crawler. Tons of super clean, spotless, high end trucks down there that nobody ever seems to get dirty. In comparison to where I lived before that, in Colorado, you see many more lower end trim packages of Tacoma's that just as easily get back to places where most people think they need the most expensive and tricked out trucks for.

Not sure why they don't offer this in a Long Bed, I like the tech that the OR has to offer and the Pro as well, but still want a Long Bed for space.

Would you be saying the same thing if the Pro was available when you bought your Sport and you hadn't pulled the trigger too early? :p

Not at all because I was already spending a little more than I wanted on my Sport, and no way would I spend any more. Like I've said previously, I'm not one to think I need the latest, greatest, most capable, etc. My Sport is well beyond being capable enough for anything I'll ever use it for. Just because there's something newer and more capable out there doesn't mean it's something I need or lust after. And it's only worth it to me personally if I can take advantage of the features offered. I don't need all the extra stuff that results in the Pro costing more.

    ^^^this^^^

I'm am strongly considering buying the fox coil overs and skid plates for my Trd or dclb . Anyone know what else the pro has over the off-road besides the paint, hood scoop, and badges.

Ok so just a bunch of cosmetic stuff. So the performance features would just be fox shox, skid plates, and Trd exhaust?

You would think there would be more for the price. I guess they just made it it look bad a$$.
