The Georgetown plant tour was one of the most amazing things I have ever done. The QC there is ridiculous. Everything about that plant is amazing.

Yeah they're normal. Mine look like that too as well as all of the 2nd Gen leafs. They're probably the exact same leaf packs

I tried that. I live on a long dusty dirt/limerock road and explained this. They said they only cover normal operating conditions. I ended up using my 10K service early.... But did get oil, filter, and transmission fluid done.

No problem man! Its nothing new and the 2nd Gens aren't having problems with them. I haven't looked at my bumper and probably won't. Don't really care and plan on replacing it. I've never heard of any car company to take the time and measure every piece of the truck to make sure all the little gaps are the exact same. If it really bugs the ocd people they can loosen the bolts and align it themselves. That's what you have to do when you install a new aftermarket bumper.

Dents in roof from poorly loaded canoe. Broken side mirror from blown transfer truck tire. Scuffed up front bumper from thinking I was still in a corolla. Graham cracker embedded upholstery from a crazy kid.
My rear bumper is off by a 1/2 inch. I'll have them look at it at the 5000 mile inspection.

After reading about tacomas have low transmission fluid I decided to bring my truck down to a dealership. The lady tried telling me the transmission fluid isn't covered in the 25,000 mile toyotacare warrantee. I downloaded the pamphlet from the toyota website and it clearly says fluid level adjustments. After showing her that she proceeded to tell me that its not covered under the warranty unless I'm having a problem with it (somewhat understandable). However, because there is no dipstick and I cant check it my self, I wanted reassurance that my vehicle had the proper fluid in it. Especially when I bought her brand new...Starting to think that maybe I should have stayed with Jeep...

Let me slightly correct you on that...
from 2005 to 2010 all Tacoma's had three leaf, leaf systems. In 2011, they went to a four leaf, leaf system because of the massive failure and breaking of the three leaf system . There is currently a recall on all of those Tacoma. Unfortunately, it looks like they are having the same design issues even with the four leaf system. Look at every other pick up truck with leaf springs on the back and show me a Nother style where their flat or almost reversed with nothing in the truck. I have both a lawsuit and a recall on my 2005/2009 Tacoma's because of this. The solution is Somo strings or aftermarket Springs . This is now my truck with Sumo Springs and 1000 pounds in the bed with 500 of that past the back wheels .

I knew at some point there was a TSB and then they got the 4 leaf packs which look to be identical to the 2ND Gen ones. My buddy has a 2015 with 20,000 miles and our leafs look the same. I didn't say it was how leafs are on other trucks but that's how they are on the Tacoma so they're "normal". Not saying it's a great design but no one needs to panic that there's something wrong. Toyota probably does it for a nice soft ride. That's why I'm replacing mine with dakars when I lift mine.

Mine is from the same plant built 11/15. I guess the Sport quality control is tighter than the Off Road quality control.....

Correct, my point is not to send everybody into it tizzy, but to be aware of it and pay attention to it. On the three leaf system, the leaves were BREAKING that's how poor of a design it was, so with the four leaf system, I didn't see a great improvement so I made the initiative to do something before it was too late. The $192 I spent on sumo springs,is the best piece of mine I have ever bought for a vehicle.

Just say you occasionally have issues with the transmission feeling like it's slipping. Not often but when it happens it's normally at lower speeds like between 2-3rd gear and going up hills.

I never had any issues with my transmission but told this same little white lie and they checked it and found it between half and 3/4 of a quart low.

But did that make your leafs bend back the other way? Compromise ride quality? Expensive install at a shop?

What exactly do they actually improve or do?

If the leafs are still bent the wrong way could they still malfunction or break?

I don't know crap when it comes to mechanics. I look under the hood and see a battery, alternator, and a bunch of other metal and plastic....

I do haul heavy loads occasionally. A few hundred pounds quite often... I'm all for improving our trucks but I'm poor.... The mods i have done have been paid for by selling stuff from other hobbies...

I Kinda like the stock sport rims... I put the 265 70 17 Michelin AT2 tire on the stock rim with a 1.25" Spidertrax spacer for my street setup as the taco is my daily driver. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", "different strokes, for different folks", "to each their own", etc. Just thought you may want to consider the clean, yet enhanced factory look while saving even more money to spend on the countless other things these diva Tacomas beg for.

In the words of Jay-Z, "I'm, young enough to know the right car to buy yet grown enough not to put rims on it". -Ha!

Bass hunter EX. I love it. Great fishing boat, works wonderful for bow fishing too, plus My kids can jump in the water from it, i can dive off the sides... And just pull ourselves back in. Never comes close to tipping over.

40Lb thrust troller minn kota pushes it fine. But i do want a little 3-5hp outboard for larger bodies of water.

Yeah I like my stock rims also. I guess when you are a poor man such as myself, the stock rims look fine.
