The sumo springs replace the bump stop on top of your leafspring above the axle. They will lift the truck about a 1/4 or a 1/2 inch higher, putting a little more arch back in the leafspring and share the majority of any load that you will further put in your truck, making sure that the lease springs never reverse. It is a very easy installation all you need is a jack, a torque wrench, and a wrench to udo the U bolts. If you're not auto mechanic savvy I would still have a tire or suspension shop put them on but it's really not that hard. To be honest, in my opinion it made the ride much better. It's kind of a hybrid system now, you have the softness upfront and a little firmness in the back. When I used to go over railroad tracks, and we've all been there. You get thrown from side to side as you go over the tracks now that no longer happens . It really was the best $192 I have ever spent on the truck .

I was going to add, look them up and read about them and you'll have a much better understanding why they work so good and why they made them progressive

I was having difficulties with my dealer helping me and just answering questions. So I called Toyota Headquarters and spoke with a really nice lady and she was NOT happy with how my dealer was being. She wanted to know EVERYTHING I was having problems with, or had questions about. And anything else I was unhappy with my truck. Also wanted to know the names of the people I spoke with at my dealer. She opened up a claim with them and said my dealer will be in contact with me in the next 24hrs. And if I had any other problems to give her a call back. Less them 3hrs later my dealers claim person called me and got me a appointment scheduled and she wanted to double check what I WANTED done and looked at.
Ended up dropping my truck off at 8am and was able to pick it up at 2pm. I did the paint on the transmission bolt and that was the first thing I check as the service writer was telling me what they all did and found. To say the least the paint "seal" was broken and they said it took .5 qts to fill it to the proper level. And the shifting and lag then engagement from R to D was fixed.
So if your dealer is being a p.o.s I'd give headquarters a call.

I used to do that also, and I ended up with two snaps Leaf springs . On my 2009, I had never put anything in the back of truck but a Rototiller one time and it still broke.

Dents in roof from poorly loaded canoe. Broken side mirror from blown transfer truck tire. Scuffed up front bumper from thinking I was still in a corolla. Graham cracker embedded upholstery from a crazy kid.
I think this will be my next project... If for nothing else to improve the railroad crossing experience.

My opinion is blackwall out BUT you should choose what you like best ... not what others tell you they like.

Cool!!! The one tip that I will add to anybody putting on the sumo springs, is when you loosen up your u-bolts and put the plate in place that the sumo Springs screw onto. Use a small mirror and a flashlight over the top of the back tire so you can look down over the rear axle and lineup the sumo plate in line with the axle, because obviously when you loosen the U bolts, you can't jack the car up at that point and our adult sized heads can't fit between the tire and the rear wheel well to see the alignment.

Finished installing the switch-pro. It took longer than I thought mainly due to finding a good location for the ignition sense/acc on wire tap. I couldn't find any info anywhere for installing this on the third gen. I ended up taping into the ignition 2-main relay for on off power programming with key accessorie on. Everything else in the fuse boxes in the cab or in the engine bay is either hot all the time (switchpro always thinks it's on) or switch determinate (example fog lights have to be on for switch pro to be on). It's working great now though. If anybody has ideas or suggestions on how to tap ignition on better im open. I also cut the accessorie wires down and added a terminal block to keep it organized until I get everything installed. Everything is installed on a tacomapros blank bussman plate. I'll use that kickout to mount a winch power interupter whenever that project happens... Gonna start on mounting the ARB compressor in the bed cubby. Hopefully I have pictures later today. Happy memorial day!:oldglory::mudding:

Ramp is awesome. Thinking of doing something similar, just want one that can easily travel in the truck. You throw it in the bed?

Pulled the trigger on the Cali Raised 31.5 stealth mount kit, along with the OPT7 wiring harness and MICTUNNING push switch. I think I have read all the threads and posts and watched the vids on the install. My OCD kicked in and figured I'd ask if any one that has done this has any tips, tricks, or suggestions to make the install go smoothly. I am not too worried about the mechanical part. More the wiring as I don't want to blow up my truck. Thanks in advance.
