Dude there is so many options I don't know what to get. I think I'm going to wait a little first.

Well said, what I'm really really really really wanting is to catch somebody with some of these in person.

Then I will feel better about it all, at least that's what I think for some reason

Also as for DIY I'm guessing the D2S is easier than most of these to do right?

I agree. The best way is to see it in person and compare. You can only see so much in pictures.

Well Andrew modded those a bit to add more color but you'll get the same width, brightness, etc. Just less color band. Let me find a picture of someone with unmodded mini d2s that will blow you away.

Absolutely because you have the shaft and nut to mount to and it pretty much guides the projector center of where the originsl bulb is. FXR, Murano, And TL does not. So that means youll have to make markings to where the original bulb sits. Here is what i mean. See the cross hairs? Where they cross is where the original bulb was.
    DSC_5586_9ebc487b361e6ffa5cae384f2f769bfcb46698c3.jpg

If you don't align this like so, you can mount the projector too high, too low, too far to the left, or too far to the right. If that happens, you cant use your headlights adjusters to make changes if it's too far off. Don't worry, rechelon does align their projector as close as possible.

Yeah, let's see your stock do that lol that is just the mini d2s. FXR is the big daddy of mini d2s. So yeah haha fxr is a huge improvement over stock. As bright as you can get without blinding anyone and it looks cool with your clean and sharp cutoff

@gym_jamz you mentioned 3 different versions of Muranos do you know which version Rechelon uses? Also did I understand correctly that the tuning can be geared specifically towards more colour (rainbow?) or sharper cutoff lines.

PS why are they called J Slopes? I do see a difference in the cutoff where it drops when compared to D2S FXR etc but not really seeing the resemblance to a J.

    Good questions indeed!

So far, I've seen rechelon uses J slopes versions. Which is great because Murano projectors are the ONLY projectors with j slope cutoff. EU murano are rare and hard to come by. Price jumps up to $200 easily.

You can have more color, but you'll lose the sharpness. And too much color can be distracting. But can be done!

As for j slopes, here is a picture with both projectors being muranos

See how the left projector's cutoff kinda swoops like a J? A long J, kinda like a skateboard ramp lol

Well the good thing is no matter what projectors I get it will be way better than stock.

And I'm confident there is a zero percent chance when I fire up FXR's I'm gonna think "Meh. Not bad". Lol.

@gym_jamz Thanks for taking the time to answer all the questions, your input is definitely helping me to make the decision. As I said in my follow-up post, I have no doubt the $300 up-charge for the Muranos is warranted, I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth it to me.

Another question for you - if I stick with FX-Rs, how much benefit is there in upgrading the bulbs? Rechelon uses the Morimoto XB35s in their packages, and the Philips 85122, and Osram CBI and NightBreaker seem to all be very popular....those are in the $80-175 range (TRS pricing). Worth it in your opinion over the Morimoto bulbs?

Morning Guys! Sorry for the delay in response and due to the Holiday weekend, I was unavailable to answer emails. I'll be answering everything in detail but it seems Jimmy has helped out tremendously in summing up the debate. The FX-R projectors will be a great upgrade over the existing oem output and I can't see anyone not being happy with them.

I'll be going through emails and this thread more in the afternoon to answer all questions.

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Weekend.

Thank you Jimmy for taking the time to assist everyone in this thread.

Morimotos are pretty darn good for $50. Lumens are definitely there but the main difference really is morimoto will shift it's color quicker than oem bulbs. Which is alright because they're 1/3 of the price.

I am going with CBIs for my next purchase. Why? Because I have oem projectors and want oem bulbs also. I am pretty happy with morimoto's. In my pictures above, they're all morimoto's and as you can see, they're plenty bright.

As for someone who never had retrofits, morimoto's are again better than stock halogens. Great thing about FXRs, Muranos, and TLs, is that you can always upgrade to oem d2s bulbs and keep the projectors.

Absolutely man! Do whatever I can to help people steer away from PNP hids lol

If one's projector setup was using amp style bulb and connectors and wanted one day upgrade to "CBI" for example, would the use of the AMP > D2S adapter like in the following link be a safe idea or any concerns there?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/252072456978?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true

TRS only offers the traditional "90 degree angle" style and due to limited housing space depending on the setup, projectors mounted deeper into the housing, can't use these..if that makes sense.
