I started with this box to keep my gear in addition to being under bed cover. I don't trust a bag in the cab. Iv got 2 sets of bolt holes in the box allowing me to move it forward or all the way against the cab. I added the 4-6 gallon gas tanks as well as 2 fire extinguishers, a small axe, a folding shovel and a 5lb hammer. It's a work in progress but space is limited as my ammo, guns, 4 go bags and wife and kid will fill the remainder of the bed and the cabimage.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Aren't you worried about somebody looking in the cab and seeing that stuff and then break in??

That is a concern of mine also. Living in an urban area is tough to keep stuff in the truck without attracting thieves. Also I would have the back seats (DCSB) folded down so I couldn't get full use of a molle panel. It would be great if I still had my access cab. I'm looking for a cover for the behind the seat area to hide what's back there when I have the seats folded.

Tint your windows (preferably with the break resistant covering) and toss a dark colored blanket over your stuff in the back. You can also buy various size cargo covers- those retractable/roll up things that come in the back of vehicles like CRVs, Highlanders, Rav4s, etc. I'm sure you could find one that would work with a bit of research.

Another thing my ex (who was from Baltimore) used to do was leave her glove box open so anyone walking by could see that there was nothing of value in it. She said it was a common thing to do; I've done it myself at trailheads.

Another option is a PacSafe http://www.pacsafe.com/travel-accessories-wallets/backpack-bag-protectors.html

For all its short comings my Ranger did have a tonneau cover in the access area that rolled up in the back wall and extended out and clipped on the walls behind the seats. It might make thieves curious and want to take a look under but I never had a problem and I used it all the time.

Wisconsin limits how much tint and the Leo's will pull people over if they suspect it is to dark. Then a vehicle search can and usually does ensue. Dark Windows=you're hiding something.

As stupid as tint laws are, nobody said you have to get limo tint. Even a mild tint will make it harder for the casual observer, most smash and grab types, to see inside the vehicle. Adding a dark colored covering over your stuff makes it more difficult to see inside a darker interior; give it a try and see.

That said, I do not like very dark tint as it makes it much harder to see out of at night, especially as you get older and your night vision gets worse. Off road where there is little ambient light it's even worse.

I like the retractable cover idea. Will look into it when I get a chance.

...^^^... I worked in the middle east in 1980's & 1990's and you could see this coming (post old USSR in Afghanistan) ... poor & unskilled people going to countries with money and good social programs.

And all it takes are wars and/or civil unrest and refugees leave their own country for the land of "milk & honey" next door ... but the refugees don't understand the culture, customs & rules of the new country ... and they try to bring their own culture, customs & rules with them ... which results in an un-assimilated, unhealthy & silent culture within the main host county ... and this leads to disaster later.

After West & Easy Germany combined ... many though that was the place to go ... and after those 2 countries assimilated into one and started resuming their economic power as a single county again.

Europe & Scandinavia ... as we know it today ... with be forever changed in the next generation of 20 to 30 years ... and the same could easily happen here too.

I am concerned that this genie is out of the bottle now ... and there is no going back for the refugees to their own countries.

Just popping in not an extreme survivalist but I try to keep prepared I have thousands of 22 rounds and atleast a few hundred for my other fire arms 45, 9mm, 12 gauge buckshot slugs target bird etc. and under 100 for my 300 win mag) everything muzzle loader I keep separate to be left behind. In my ammo cases I have food rations a pretty basic first aid kit and water filter straws. Pantrys always stuffed with canned goods and just 10 gallons of water.

My 45 is alwAys in my truck, in sight but trucks lifted so it can't be seen without really peeking in but where I live I could probably be safe to leave it unlocked. Keep 100 rounds in the truck. I'm an electrician so I have about 1000 feet of what we call mule line it's a flat ribbon type rope rated at 1500-2500 lbs depending on size.

I carry 2.5 gallons of gasoline but that's more for basic emergencies I would like to set up something to carry more.

Another thing I do is keep all my winter, extreme weather clothing and hunting supplies in totes for easy loading if the day ever came.

This is a great thread really appreciate all the expert/military suggestions. Really wish my truck had the 110v outlet now.

I have it and I plan to upgrade it with a much larger inverter. If you decide to add one to yours I'd strongly suggest something larger than the OE model which leaves most people wanting for something bigger.

I spent the money on marathon seat covers. Waterproof and have an optional pouch in front of seat and hooks in back to hold a rifle. I only got the front pouch though rifle on floor in a case works for me.

What does that cost? For 1000 you can get one of those Honda whisper 2000w generators they're small efficient and light weight

I considered moving up to a 1000W but that would require 2 gauge wire:eek: for the 83A needed. Also true sine wave inverters are mucho dinero! I'm still considering something in the 500-600W range

Only problem I have with those Hondas they are 120V single phase. Meaning you can't plug them into your sub panel and run your house if needed. I have a 4000W Generac that is 120V two phase that I can (and have) powered my house with. Having two phases is essential to run my well pump.
