...why? I can put Mobil 1 full syn and a toyota filter for around $30. Try beating that shit anywhere. I wait till Costco has coupons for $10 off, and usually buy 3 cases which is the limit. The coupons come out every few months, and the oil is regularly 35.

    Plus, I don't really think that I've changed a vechicle's oil that's been easier.

    back to bone stock.
i admit, i had a shop do mine. ONLY because i just bought the car, and the great shop owner did a bunch of stuff for me. he gave it a total going over, adjusted my parking brake, checked into my (normal) tranny shifting that i wasnt used to. he called, and said, "i'm done!....no charge!" i was like WTF? at least change my oil...i paid him, and left.

i will DIY it from now on. i have copious amounts of mobil 1 stored.

My buddy works at jiffy lube and he would get me free oil and filter and change it out for me. He dosent come around any more so I just buy oil from wallmart and just do it my self.

I'm getting the dealership to do it until the warranty runs out, then I'm doing it myself.

    100% agree on all parts.
I have to mention that this is the cleanest oil changing vehicle I have ever owned.
Lard Rovers would dump oil right on top of the axle.
Jeeps would just run all over the side.
    Toyota got this one right!

I work on equipment 5 days a week. I stopped doing maintenance work on my own vehicles years ago. My wife works near the local dealership that has an express lube so she just runs it over on her lunch break or I will take it over on Saturday. I will do everything else mod related myself, though.

    Me, myself, and I.

Changing the oil is easy. I've been changing the oil in vehicles since I was probably about 10 years old. I'll take my truck in to have something major done, but not routine maintenance.

Besides, I wouldn't trust those monkeys to do it. It's not their truck, so they're not going to give it the same care I will.

Just changed my oil for the first time since I bought the truck new and I have 60k on it. I was shocked at how easy it was. It was much cheaper than I expected. Less than $20 for the oil and filter. The DIY guide was a big help. It just would have been nice if I had a tube for the oil filter overflow.

I used to always let the filter oil drain into that catch, then hold the filter under the plug and drain that oil back into the filter, kind of using the filter as a cup.

This past oil change I got a piece of hose and temporarily ran it from the oil catch down to my drain pan on the ground. Then I removed the filter. I can't believe I didn't do that a long, long time ago. No more nearly burning myself with hot oil, not to mention no more dripping oil on things below that catch.

Before my next oil change I will definetly need to buy the tube. Now I have oil all over everything under the filter.

I am a new Tacoma owner. Its a certified 06 and being certified, I get free life time oil changes at the dealer. Otherwise I would do it myself.
