Before anything, props to All-Pro for making an awesome bumper because I honestly think if I had a stock bumper, the damage would have been a lot worst.

Anyway, here's what happened, Stockton, CA. Going on the on ramp from highway 4 onto highway 5.

I was following my buddy and came to a complete stop. About 1 second into it, I get hit from behind HARD. I pulled over to the shoulder and look at my buddy who now has a bloody nose. Apparently, he was looking at his phone and with the impact, his face cam smashing into it lol (other than that, he's ok.) My shoulder hurts like hell, thanks for asking.

I got out of my truck and saw the Subaru that crashed into on the lane. The driver and passengers seemed shaken up but ok.

According to my friends, they heard the crash and looked in the mirror and saw the Subaru's rear end in the air because it submarined under my truck

I was a bit shaken up by the whole thing. CHP came strangely quick and separated my group with the other car's group. I will hopefully be getting the police report real soon.

    My damage:
Bumper is pushed in on the passenger side
Tailgate has two dents from the radiator
Exhaust is pointed towards my real wheel
    Fender flare is gone
    Need a new tail light
Side of the bed probably needs to replaced
Passenger selt belt indicator isn't turning off
Airbag lights are on (I think the pretensioners got tripped)
    Who knows about the Leer

Question is, what do I need to expect from this whole thing? Insurance hell?

Here are the pictures of my truck and the Subaru's at the bottom

Get quote to fix it. Buy new tail-light from here or ebay. Cut off exhaust at axle. Live w dented tailgate (like most other tacomas out there). Fix bumper with BFH. Pocket rest of money for more mods.

Sorry to hear your truck got dinged up but it sounds like everybody was able to walk away which is most important.

Looks like maybe the airbags didn't deploy in the Subaru? Or am I not seeing it....

Hopefully the Subaru drivers aren't petty jerks. I had a friend get sued when someone rear-ended him. The suit said that the non-stock steel rear bumper he had installed compromised the truck's crumple zone and caused more damage and injury to the person who hit him than the stock would have.

That's sucks, glad your ok. That Subaru was trashed, must have been exceeding the limit by a lot. Hope it all works out.

    Workin' on it....
What was the outcome of this? I can't see how if someone runs into you they would have any leg to stand on but I suppose any of these bumpers are not DOT approved. I plan on putting a rear bumper on with a swing out.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
Looks similar to damage I got recently except I had stock chrome bumper. Had shop quote work and got a check from insurance. Their insurance might require a certain shop to quote but you can get work done wherever.

Mine is 2015 model so shop quoted pricing as only OEM parts.
I left my bedside, just some DIY touchup paint.
Had a shop do tailgate and they color-matched my grill for cheap since they had paint mixed anyway.
    My new bumper on order.
Use leftover funds for other mods.

Ask insurance adjuster about replace vs repair on bumper when they are doing quote.

Edit: if body shop pricing out there is comparable to here, tailgate fix can be done $300-400.

As far as I know it didn't. Luckily, no one was hurt (as far as I know) in their car

The girl was crying her brains out. She was also being followed by some friends and they were in panic mode.

It never really went anywhere, the kid who rear-ended him was texting when the accident happened and there really was no way to prove the aftermarket steel bumper caused more damage than an F250's stock steel bumper would have. It was still a shitty few weeks.

Best part is we saw the same kid literally three weeks later in a brand-new Audi texting at a red-light.
