Well after having my truck for about 10 months I have finally baptized it. I was helping a friend move her stuff to her new home, and we were going to to lunch after and i was backing up and while I was turning my wheel started to rub on the cab mount like it always does. She gets startled and I start to explain its just my tires are too big and rubbing and then next thing i know were both getting jarred around. LUCKILY nothing that bad happened since i wasnt going fast since my tires were rubbing lol. Heres a pic of the only damage that i could find of what happened, anyone know what this plastic piece is called? I'm looking around on toyodiy.com but since there isnt any pictures its hard to pinpoint what piece it is i need for a replacement.

Yeah my friend was really worried that i dinged my tailgate, she pratically jumped out of the cab to go and look, lol. I'm just happy it wasnt another car i hit and all that broke is that plastic piece. I'm debating on just leaving it as a battle scar, but if a new piece is cheap, might as well just replace it :p

no offense to all but due to the recent increase in the amount of accidents involving our beloved tacomas we should hold a mandatory driver improvement class so we can be sure that no more of our tacomas get wrecked

bumper step plate? It doesn't look too bad. They probably want a couple hundred bucks for a new one.

    of course
It's a truck man, let it be a truck. Trucks are tools, if you scratch a wrench or a drill do you buy a new one? This is just character for your TACO.

after a little more research i found the part number is 52159-04020, called the "cover, rear bumper" and goes for about 80 bucks brand new according to toyodiy.com. After some looking around looks like they have been sold on ebay before for about 40 bucks, but there are none up for auction right now. Anyone know of any good places online so i can see how much they charge?

That piece of plastic is not worth replacing. It's hard with a brand new truck... But on a long enough timeline everything is temporary.

Yeah after i saw that it costs 80 bucks according to toyodiy.com i pretty much decided to just leave it, but if i can get one cheap on ebay for 40 bucks, heck thats only 8 bucks shy of an hour of work for me.
