Yeah. It's funny even in the minors kids chew on their mouth gaurds rather than wear them. Then parents are all "why da fuck did my kid get a concussion if that was a clean hit.."

I wonder why when one side of their jaw got slammed up with double the force because they like to look cool while getting leveled in the corner.

For whatever it's worth listening to the radio it seems like both TSN and Sportsnet "experts" predicted no suspension too. They both felt that while Marleau takes an odd route to hit Rust and makes head contact, Rust killing all of his momentum and coming in head down had just as much to do with what happened. Penalty on the ice and that's it.

They also make the excellent point that if every play on a rookie pro is going to draw this much negativity then maybe they should just eliminate hitting from the game. I don't see how you can keep hitting in the game if putting yourself in spots like that is going to result in a suspension every time. Players will milk it all day long.

When you first mentioned it I went back to the article and noticed that "Puck Daddy" was right below the authors name. I did a WTF until I realized that was a website. For a minute I thought he was just actually going around with the title "Puck Daddy" attached to his name .

In general I avoid the US media for commentary on hockey. A good chunk of US sports writers didn't eat, sleep, and breath it growing up so I rarely find the writing from them up to par on talking about anything hockey, especially the rules and attitudes within the game..
