I saw the one harness that got made for the 2nd gen that was about 250 and that seems outrageous. For that much money I would expect a sensor on the bumper to automatically switch to front camera mode while parking. I might be oversimplifying this but, shouldn't it just take a three position switch? Is there a way to splice in to the wiring where one position is always on, one is normal, and then the other turns on the front camera? It would be nice if there was a wiring harness to make this easier, but this seems like something that could be done fairly easy already.

CAM00220.jpg I order this kit from dhgate.com. As you can see on the box it is labeled as a back up camera and the instruction pamflet is all in Chinese and also for a back up camera. After bunch of emails with the seller they finally put together a half assed picture of the kit with English labels which I'm going to try to follow....... wish me luck...lol. I'll post an up date when I get around to doing the install.

Do you already have a rear camera and factory head unit?

My wife has this on her new 2016 Rav4 Hybrid. I would love to be able to add the same functionality to my 2016 Tacoma! I'm watching this one. Being able to switch between rear and front or split-sreen would be awesome.

So I think we're in a holding pattern until someone gets the courage to actually start splicing into some wires.

If the RAV4 has the same radio and has a front camera is think all we would need would be the harness and camera.

That's for 2nd gen. I was wondering if anyone had any insight into the 3rd gen before I go screwing things up.

    I called Camera Source.
THIS KIT they say is plug and play and can run up to 4 camera's and can all be viewed from the OEM screen. For a front camera it activates at speeds 1-8 MPH or he said you could run an inline switch to turn it off and on. If you want side view camera's they are activated using the turn signal. Seems pretty trick but is pricey!
Has anyone bought the one from Camera Source?

Has anyone tried a 12 volt blue tooth enabled camera and used a phone or iPad to view the image?

Another option if this WiFi camera. Either the traditional license plate type or their smaller camera. It got mixed reviews on Amazon for having a delay. A video on the 4ucam web site shows they changed the software and now there is only a .1 second delay which would be fine for an offroad use camera.

Not sure if it's been mentioned here already but this company makes plug and play interfaces for the 3rd gen Entune systems.

    http://www.cruxinterfacing.com/search/index.php?make=Toyota&model=Tacoma&year=2016&search=Search

The VIMITY-05 allows you to plug in any video source and display it on the Entune system via a dedicated input selection. This would work for a front camera and is less than $100 on Amazon.
The AVITY-01 is the same as above but includes the cable to interface and mirror your mobile device.
The WVITY-01 allows mirroring via WIFI.

I really like the idea of vehicle in motion eliminator. I think I'm going to take the radio out this weekend and examine the inputs and everything. The price of those harnesses are just too much for my budget.

I do have the back up camera in the rear view mirror. I am going to add a switch to allow me to use either camera at any time...... I just need to figure out how to splice front camera into the mirrors display.

I couple of posts on this thread mention "WIFI".... am I missing something? What good is WIFI if you are not sitting in your garage?

If it's labeled as a backup camera, my guess is that the image will be reversed if you try & use it as a front camera...
