Speaker setups?

I'm trying to get ideas on what door speakers to upgrade to in my 2015.

 

There is an audio/video forum I'm sure you can get some info from.

 

I'll talk speakers. I put 6.5" in front door .Removed 6x9. (Was shocked at the quality of 6x9 in door totally cheap) . Made a plywood ring and added a 3 way jl c5 setup. But a 6x9 would do the job if you liked them. And in the back I added 6.5" c5 2 way in the access door. There's a hole in the metal but not the plastic panel as you should know. The older Years had a speaker there. The stock speakers in the roof are just tweeters . There in the back corners. There junk as well. It's to bad they didn't have a dash spot like in the older gen.

I researched what would fit in my 1st gen at Crutchfield but found them much cheaper at Amazon.

 

maybe because I'm using the mobile site but Crutchfield doesn't give me any recommendations for speakers only decks

 

Yeah, I don't use the mobile site so I can't say, but usually you need to select speakers in order to get those recommendations. Try looking them up on a pc device.

 

Be aware Amazon sells 3rd party . Make Shure it says Amazon stock. Not ships from so and so . Cheaper doesn't always mean better. I bought the cheap stuff first and it was remanufactured. An alpine touchscreen deck all new but no certificate and it had software issue, a single din alpine and it would not play CDs , a JL 3Way set all new but different magnets not JL stamped. The stuff was for my 80series a few years ago. So when I bought the taco I bought from crutch or dealer site. That way I new I was getting 100% perfect.

I am extremely pleased with the sound. I did not replace the factory head-unit.

I did the replacement in conjunction with installing sound deadening material in the doors and rear wall.

 

I decided to go simple with these. The reviews are great on them as far as plug n play applications and can't beat getting everything in one box

Wait till you see the magnet. On the stock speaker. It's like 3 quarters stacked together super small. 6x9 can hit in a small cab. It's the same as 8" in speaker terms. If you want a cheap and easy sound deadner. Go to lowes or Home Depot and get some mastic it's in the ac area. It's a half gallon . Like 15 bucks . Just smear it around the flat sheet metal in side the door in the area the speaker is . make it thick 1/4" or more maybe two coats it drys in an hr. Speed it up with a blowdryer . It helps with the vibration from the sound waves.. It's water based. And is waterproof after it drys. This is what the factory uses .and Its sold as a deadner it's just given a different name and charge more. Also try foam baffles they can sometimes help with the sound quality and keep the speaker dry from water (rain) that gets inside the door.

that's what i have. i'd mark them as ok. thought about swapping them out for something else, but i'm too cheap.

also highly second the sound deadner. and not just the doors. i've did the doors, back wall, floor so far. gonna toss some on the ceiling to finish it up. what a difference

Knu-konceptz search in eBay has the best audio stuff for the money . Just wire and deadner. U get more stuff for the money. The wire is true ga. Not just extra insulation. It's better then stinger pro for less cash. Deadner is spelled knu-konceptz kno knoise.

 

Would you suggest the mastic or something this

I mainly just want to make my doors sound more solid

 

The mastic is just for the skin were you can't get sheets to fit. (Cheap alternative)It's hard to get sheets inside the door on all the skin. Buy kit its better but it might need more . So then use mastic but by installing the sheets you'll cover the holes . So I guess you'll have to use both and install the mastic first . If your outside and you tap the metal with your knuckle and it goes ting,ting. The mastic will make go thunk,thunk. That's more solid right. If I had photo I would show you . What it looks like. I lost my photos . I had Windows 10 in my PC and didn't like it so I tried to go back to Windows 8 and in the process lost everything in PC I have stuff in a external passport harddrive but the PC wouldn't put the stuff back in it. So I don't have pics of my trucks and there mods any more until I figure that out there's a few in the cloud but not of taco.. I've been using my tablet. Most of the sound comes from the back wall from the driveshaft and exhaust , tires . I matted that first and it made a much better reduction in noise in cab. But in all I used mastic in all doors. I got it free from ac guys I used 3gls. i used the speaker hole and just scupped it with hand and wiped it on outer skin . As far as I could reach. Then installed the sheets(behind the plastic door molding but on door) And I went as far as making a little sealed box for the 6.5 speaker. In the 6x9 hole. At first I used a baffle it worked. But I wanted more punch out of the speaker so I made the box. With the box I got less low bass . I like that better . The subs are for lows. You can use foam in a can to help seal things up. But if you need to rewire or change things up it makes it harder. Cause the foam is in the way. The foam will keep metals from rattling. From to much bass causing a metal to rattle. Foam it. Like if the roof flexes foam in the gaps between the support beam and the sheeting the factory uses a little caulk and very little. Foam is a medicine for bass. It heals a wounds. Lol

 

All I want for now is that thunk thunk lol

My 10" kicker comp does all the bass I need lol

I've heard of people using that but apparently its tar based or something so in high heat some people get some nasty smells
