Is this is a common problem? My radio locks up on an average, once a day. When this happens I need to do a full reboot by pushing and holding down the power knob.

My concern is I take it into the dealership and there's no clear cut way to show them what it's doing, and then nothing gets resolved.

Anybody else have these issues with this radio?

Yep. There is a TSB for it, it's a common issue with Entune.

I don't know what the TSB is, however.

No offense dude, but it seems like your Taco is possessed, either its a weird noise or the entune locking. Time to trade the bitch in.

This may Explain why Entune radios are so hamstrung and not very usable, the OS is owned by Blackberry:

    http://www.qnx.com/

Where the hell is the WiFi and the ability to use my own apps....
Garbage at a very high price. By the way you have to be stopped and in park to access anything on the Navigation screen or any other screen for that matter. High priced garbage.

2016 RAV4 with a 90's radio truly a step backward in time, great job Toyota.

Taking mine in on June 13th, for no rhyme of reason it reboots or freezes. When it freezes, I have to push to on/off button for it to reboot. I had it reboot 3 time in a row the other day, I through that was the end of the radio, but it worked after the 3rd reboot.

Mine does this all the time, or will even restart itself at random times...

Not quite. The radios from 2012-2015 (not sure about 2016) are made by Panasonic using an Open GNU license. You can find this information in the radio itself. It gives you a website where you can download the source code. http://car.panasonic.jp/oss/c01vvt13/
That link came right out of my head unit. It may be different depending on the model. Mine is non-jbl w/nav.

My radio went unstable after the last update. Toyota had to update the firmware to fix it.

Have your dealer check out the firmware. It's likely not up to date and the last update is causing the issue. Just have it updated.

The hardware may be manufactured by Panasonic the Operating System is from a Blackberry subsidiary QNX.

The firmware must be the source code offered from the head unit.

I should have qualified my statement with the "2016 Entune" I have no knowledge of what was used previous.

Yeah... I don't buy chinese branded radios. Nothing wrong if people want to buy them, but I prefer mainstream aftermarket. The eonon one is still using a KitKat OS. Mainstream aftermarket will usually provide better support.

Mine has done this twice and reset was only a temp fix and would repeat within hours.
I ejected the sd card and reset then put it back in and has lasted for months without problems.
Just did it again 2 weeks ago after Entune update. and did the same thing with all well SO FAR.
    fingers crossed emojie here

I suppose for a 2014 the firmware update from the Toyota dealership is no longer under warranty (3 year) My radio locks up all the time as well, also now it doesn't synch my contacts from my Iphone.

Can the firmware be done by the owner??
