If your projector runs on h1 bulbs, you will have to use h1 bulbs. Those connectors are only for people who upgrades their projectors to d2s and still want to keep their amp ballast. There's no way you run d2s bulbs in a h1 projector.

Hence why I always like d2s projectors better than H1s.


Unless! Space is a factor and you don't use oem bulbs, you can use d2h bulbs. Basically a d2s with h1 base. Saves a lot of space

 

So, Burt made my headlights and I really enjoy them. I've had zero issues which may conflict with some other threads on TW. I have RX350 projectors. I was just out on the OSRAM site trying to figure out which bulbs I have so I can get an extra set. I'm a little puzzled by which bulb is in those projectors. This whole retro thing is new to me, but I really like the way they look. Can any of you enlighten me on which bulb is in the RX350 projector?

 

Any d2s bulbs. Do you have a picture of the bulb's base? Or even the box? Heck even the bulbs kelvin color could help me narrow it down lol

That rules out Osram CBIs.

They're either Osram NightBreakers ($175) or Osram 66240 ($85).

Being a tuned rx350 projector, I bet they're the NightBreakers

 

Next stupid question: what happens when you tune a light?

 

When you tune a projector, you replace the stock fresnel lens for a clear lens, space the lens, and in some cases, make a custom shield or alter oem shield to maximize it's performance.

For example, here is my muranos. Top is oem with fresnel lens and bottom is clear lens with some tuning. See how big the hot spot is and how sharp the cutoff is?

 

Making me want the Maranos. Probably stay around and educate myself for a while longer before making the leap.

Although I would really love to be able to see at night lol

What makes one light better than the other? Bulb? Design of the projector? My RX350's are way better than the stock light.

 

I think "better" is sometimes subjective depending on who you're talking to. I feel like each projector has their own strengths and weakeness as well as the bulb type and brand in the end. Anything is better than stock. For like a few years I was using silverstar which was a nice improvement over the stock cheap bulbs cuz I was too poor for retro's haha...but man I was constantly swapping out the bulbs cuz for whatever reason they were not lasting for me, maybe it was just me and my luck so i went back to stock cheapy bulbs until i got my 1st retro's a year ago...FTW! Still new to the whole retro scene so I'm still learning like many others.

 

Pretty much what Sam said. Different design to certain areas. Certain areas such as high beam, reflectors, size, width, etc. There are pros and cons to all of them.

You did great with rx350s. They're one of the best performers and at a cost also. Projectors $200, clear lens $30, and tuning is another $100. That's $330 in just projectors alone.

 

SO huge question. Can i buy a tuned set of projectors from anyone, I really like what @gym_jamz posted

 

Which projector? I know @TRSAndrew has a pair of tuned 350s right now for $225 shipped. Comes with passive green demon eye but can be stripped or painted over
