Toyota offered me a special circumstance replacement cause my truck was leaning to one side, they had previously replaced the passenger side which had snapped, but it was still gonna take a week to get the springs in once I got all the aprovals because it's not technically ready in my area yet. I opted out and just did my own recall lol ome Dakar leafs and a shackle flip. 1000% better than the Toyota leafs

I got my letter a while ago here in Ky., but the truck has been in the body shop for a while. Took it to the local dealer today, and was told it will need the new springs. Not sure how long until they will get the parts, but I was told my springs are fine, no breaks, just not enough clips, so I should be fine until they get here.
Odd thing, on the way there, heard some odd noises from under the front of the truck. Hoping that it WASN'T anything to do with the recent repairs, I looked under the hood, and saw that my serpentine belt was fraying, with some strands wrapped around the fan pulley! Had the dealer look at it and see if it was related to the repairs, and was told that it appeared to be the original belt, or at least an old one, and that it had just picked then to start to come apart. 10 year old truck with 135,00 miles on it.
Bottom line, $105 for a new belt installed.

Just took my truck into the dealer this morning for my coil spring recall they also inspected my springs and said I would need replacements. They are on order and will take a few weeks to arrive. I have the 2+1's and never noticed any noises or other issues like rust but free springs why not.

Took mine in Wednesday and got "inspected." Result--new springs needed, will order parts, may be anything from 3 weeks to 2 months. The dealer (Pueblo Toyota in Pueblo, CO) says "that is the way they have to do it."
Clearly Toyota believes that their customer's time is of no value! I live about 65 miles from the dealer, so a trip to the dealer wastes, at minimum, half a day.
    Pissed.

Just had all recalls performed on my 05 (leaf springs, spiral cable and seat belt bolts)

Leaf spring replaced with 4 pack; all the bolts, spring perches and shock bolts replaced. Dealer said a 4 wheel alignment was performed but no record of it on the service form; all though the wheel looks straight now.Initial feeling is good, only drove about 5 miles back from dealer. Doesn't look like it is any higher than the 3 pack and is almost as flat(no arch really)
Dealer had all parts in stock and service took about a day (dropped off sat 11am and pick up at 1pm sunday)

Anyone know if the icon aal will work with the new spring packs or do they (aal) have to be redesigned? Also, who is opting out of the recall for any reason- namely havin a aal and it provides more support to the factory springs? I've always had horrible luck with dealerships damaging my vehicles and I just wish they would give me the springs to do myself.

The progressive AALs still fit. If I had to do it over, I would have kept my old 2+1 leafs with my progressive AAL installed.

I reinstalled my progressive AAL in the new springs without the overload thinking the new 3+1 recall leafs would give me more lift, but they didn't, and now my load capacity is even less than it was before. I'm not looking forward to spending another 3+ hours putting the heavy overload back in.

Did you actually loose ride height or just load carrying capacity? If there's a reduction in ride height then it's a no go for me. I'd rather not lose capacity either as I'm not running overloads. Plus I got u bolt flip with plates that have strikers for hydo bumps. I'd have to get longer u bolts and center pin as mine have been cut down. Maybe just not worth it for me. Anyone else???

Originally, I had the factory 2+1 with a 1.5 progressive AAL and the overload leaf left in. After the recall springs were installed, I put the same AAL back in, but I removed the overload leaf. I assumed that the recall springs would provide more lift and compensate for the removal of the overload leaf. I was wrong. Apparently, the recall springs provide just about the same lift as my old 2+1 leafs because I'm sitting about .75" lower in the back now.

So I guess to answer your question, I'm not really comparing apples to apples, so neither. With my original setup I had the extra ~.75" of lift and load carrying capability because I left the overload leaf in. Now, the rear is lower than it was and there's no overload to keep the springs from frowning under load.

If you're not running the overload leafs now, you'll probably see a similar amount of lift with the AAL installed in the new leaf packs.

Thanks for clarification. What's your opinion in ride quality with ol vs without ol springs. I realize your going to sit a least.5" higher just from spring thickness. I had debated leaving mine in but my truck sits almost level to maybe .5" higher in the rear and with ol spring might be too much stink bug looking. Do you have any pics of you truck with ol spring installed so I can see how it sits? Also did you have to remove your aal prior to going to dealer or was it taken out as part of the old assembly? Anyone with pics of the new spring pack? I know lots of ?'s sorry. I'm thinking that if my current configuration ever shows signs of failure is just go to a complete progressive pack anyway- like deaver.

These are the best pics I could find.

Original lift - Factory 2+1 leafs with 1.5 progressive AAL with overload
    [IMG]
Top is immediately after the dealer installed the new recall leafs. Bottom is recall leafs with 1.5 progressive AAL without overload.

The ride is about nearly the same with and without the overload. At first, it seemed better without (less axel wrap) but once it settled, it was the same.

I didn't remove anything before I brought it to the dealer. They removed my old leaf pack and threw it in my bed, extended ubolts and all.

Here's a picture of the new leaf pack after I installed the AAL.

All and all it looks like a better, more supported and more progressive pack. How many clamps on the factory pack did you have to remove to install the aal. I like the way my current aal adds support to the 2 factory springs but you new pack looks to be better supported toward the front of the truck. What to do??? Wish i knew someone who worked at my local dealership so I could just get the springs and do it myself. Thanks for taking all the time with the photos. That really helps and it's good to know your dealer did the work either the aal installed.

I didn't have to remove any clamps on the new leaf packs. There are four clamps on the recall springs, two up front and two in the back. The AAL fits just between the middle clamps.

Well I might call the dealer and ask them how they would deal with my truck being modified. I don't mind doing the work over again if I end up with a better result. Ultimately your 6 spring pack looks better than mine with 5 springs. I may have left enough thread on my aal center pin for another leaf but probably not the thickness of the overload.

Same situation as you. Looks like I'll be skipping this TSB.
