Signed up for a Learn to Kayak class being put on by REI this Saturday. Figured it was the best and cheapest way to get out there and try it out...pretty excited! :yay:

So I'm about to pull the trigger on a Smittybilt 9500lb winch with synthetic rope and aluminum fairlead. Anyone here have any feedback on Smittybilt? From what I can tell they seem to be pretty reliable and relatively cheap ($450 but i'm getting it for $350 brand new). Also what should I use for a disconnect solenoid to isolate the winch from the battery when not in use?
