we were looking at a house and were close to putting a number in. Watched it for a bit as i too thought there might be a bubble pop. Nope, damn house sold for 140k more than we originally saw it for 5 months before.

it rose THAT fast. Its still rising at a rapid rate.

 

Damn. When I was buying it was the other way around, houses were staying about level but a few months after we bought they all dropped a couple grand.

 

i kick myself daily we didnt jump on that house. We'd have a house and probably already drop our PMI at this rate with a quick re-fi. oh whale.

One we looked at up the street the sellers wouldnt move on at all but we liked it. Put an offer in, they released the info, turns out it had an EPA hit on it as a contaminated dumping site. We think a previous owner just listed his chemical transfer company as that address but the EPA said tens of thousands of dollars to come out and test soil samples. Seller came down about 5k and then wouldn't move from 385k or so. We pulled our offer and bought our current house. Wife saw it for sale at like 350k last year, we laaaaughed and laaaaughed. It was shady once we looked at it more, house needed alot of work and all the new shit they installed without permits and shady contractors.

 

Yeah its a tough process for sure. We liked the house we got since it needed nothing. Kitchen is remodeled, master is the entire upstairs with an office/nursery and three bedrooms downstairs. With a new baby and tight budget we didn't have the luxury of messing with a home before moving in besides some paint. I'm pumped because the owners are leaving their washer/dryer (nice ones), all appliances (2 extra small fridges), all outdoor furniture and the TV. Makes it a lot less for us to move/buy and they all work perfectly in the spots they are in.

 

Yeah appliances definitely help a TON!! I bought the house amd moved in a month before my wife moved up here, and i had no appliances for a week, it sucked ass! Also just had a bed and a desk for that month till the wife moved up with it all from San Diego lol

 

Glad we bought in 2010.

 

bublle isnt going to burst for a few more yrs at least. housing is expected to increase at least 6% within the next yr. and with intrest rates on the raise its either buy now or wait for the next crash. oh there will be , a big crash !!!it maybe in 5 to 7 yrs from now.

 

Me too. my house has almost doubled in price.

 

Yeah we'll see. We had a long talk about this in my Finance and economics classes and most people agree that usually when everyone is expecting the bubble to burst and crash, it doesnt happen. Its when everything is going good and nobody expects it is when shit hits the fan.

 

Haha, we might have a newborn when we move in (move in date roughly 7/7, due date 7/21), so having no appliances would suck! Now we just have to figure out how to get all our furniture up to the second story since we have a spiral staircase...

This is what I've been told as well, so in 5 years when we may want to sell we will be screwed...lovely.

why would you want to sell. looks like a sweet home lots of room and tons of extras. who knows if you plan it right and sell when it peaks you could walk away ahead.
