How do you think the manual will hold resale vs the automatic?

Not as many people to sell it to, but the quantity sold is low compared to the automatics. So if someone is looking for a manual transmission, they really want a manual transmission and most likely won't have very many used ones to pick from. Should help, but it is still a used vehicle. If you as the seller hold out long enough it will probably fare better vs an automatic for someone that really wants a manual transmission. But for anyone who doesn't desperately want a manual, it won't help much.

I doubt I will want to get rid of it, but I found a manual at my local dealer and if it does not sale by the time I get my loan in order, I think I am going to pull the trigger. Just curious I guess...

wow, one sitting on the lot. I'm surprised, granted I bought a few months ago, but finding one to order was almost impossible let alone one sitting on a lot.

Good luck! The manual transmission is great.

Yep, test drove it today and really like it. Feels better than the auto to me. Granted not as smooth until I get the feel for the clutch, which I also like. Very smooth and easy to engage and hold depressed.

I would have gotten the manual if I lived somewhere less congested; but the traffic just about makes me want to go postal anymore when I have to row through it.

I'm probably the ONE GUY that likes the new auto though, it's great once you're used to how to use the different modes. S4 and ECT is titties for an auto!

As having owned many a unicorn manual only cars, I have found that resale time, its not as quick to sell as auto. HOWEVER< you need that ONE buyer (like me), who will fly all over the country, to find a rare as hen's teeth manual model...

I do hear the S4 is the way to go in town with ECT. I guess that is why they added those features to the tranny in the first place. Plus, it seems like those who do use these features have very little to say negative about the auto. Just seems its the hunting at higher speeds that gets to people.

The hunting was KILLING me during break-in, but after 1K it really dies down a bunch. In the mountains I keep it to S5 and it's really reasonable there.

I rarely use sport-mode in town, you're just grinding light to light here anyway so it doesn't matter much.

    "Sport-mode"

It restricts how many gears your auto transmission has access to. "S4" (sport-mode 4) means you only use 4 out of the 6 speeds on a 6-speed transmission.

OME, sliders, dents, hail damage, soiled armrest. Lightbulbs.
I read around here that the model 7545 (TRD OR Dcab Sbed 4x4 V6 MT) has the highest lease residual of all the models.

According to KBB earlier today, with the same options chosen, you parted with $1630 less when buying new manual, but the resale value now is only $750 less. So there's that.

That is good to know. I will be buying not leasing however, but still good news.

That actually means manual examples are $880 better off already.

Me too. Ever see a manual transmission Land Rover discovery? I owned one. I had a manual trans for my Range Rover, but she rotted out before I got around to needing to swap it in. Suburban is getting a manual trans now that the auto died (at 319k). Heck, I am trying to figure out how to put a manual in my super V8 jag. Someone needs to figure out how to swap in one out of an F-type R. In fact, the only vehicle I can think of where the manual is worth less than an auto is the Land Rover defender and that is only because they made more manuals than autos, the manuals are crap and the autos are indestructible and the autos were newer. Everything else from Porsches to Rams the manuals are worth more than autos used.

    Well said

I have had manual land cruiser and manual Nissan patrol

I would love to have a defender 110 manual, but not at the price the command these days

One of my favorite Toyota was my 4wd, manual trans, turbo diesel, master ace with al glass roof

F Type R is definitely my current favorite jag. Sultry and the first Jag since the 60s E that is worth every penny...
