Took mine out Monday. Buried it. Took 3 tries to get it into 4Hi. Took way more times to get it into 4Lo. Locker engaged after fiddling with brake pedal and in & out of reverse half a dozen times. Shoveled it out. Diff Lock disengaged halfway backing out and light started flashing. Would never lock back in. Nice guy named Paul from Rawlins pulled me the last bit of the way out in a GMC Acadia(of all things). Electronic 4 wheel drive sucks ass! Good times! Otherwise, pretty good day though cruising the mountains and finding our boundaries. :cool:2016-05-30 012.jpg 2016-05-30 015.jpg 2016-05-30 020.jpg 2016-05-30 025.jpg 2016-05-30 006.jpg

We should meet up and I'll show you the trails I know. It's nothing crazy, but fun nonetheless.

Sounds good to me. I just need to fix a CV shaft hopefully Friday and I would be good to go. I'm fine with it not being too crazy. I'm still new to the world of off road.

Now we know: Tacomas exist to pull out F150s, Acadias exist to pull out Tacomas.

Haha! That Ford was sitting there with a 6 place snowmobile trailer and another Suburban with a 2 place behind it. Both trailers empty, so no help from those peeps!

My first few times wheeling in my 16 TRD sport I had the same difficulties switching between 4hi and 4lo. on my most recent trip, it worked flawlessly and engaged immediately every time without any sort of trickery.

with any 4wd system you are supposed to engage 4lo at least once a month to help keep things engaging smoothly and reliably, hopefully your actuator just needs a workout. Sorry I don't have any insight about your locker issues.

I also hate electronic 4wd, but with that being said it does work fine when you learn how the truck works. I got very stuck in 2wd once, but got in into 4hi by turning trac off and spinning the wheels a bit.

Doesn't really matter anymore, as I never truly liked the 3rd gen truck anyway (I love the way it looked!), so I sold it yesterday. I picked up a 2014 FJ Cruiser Trail Teams Ultimate Edition, 1 owner with 6k miles the other day. So now we have 2 FJ Cruisers, my FJ40, my old '99 Tacoma and like 9 other vehicles so I think I'm good for a while. :D
