I thought all chrome has copper and nickel, because that's how chroming works.
My 2nd gen emblem did anyway...
I'll have to remember the Draino trick when I get around to doing mine.

There is a process that only uses a super thin chrome, nothing else other than a yellowish primer under it. This is an actual layer of each metal that is very difficult to remove. Sanding between treatments helps create scratches in the material so the chemicals can eat into them. Been a week, it's about half stripped.

Honestly if I had it to do over, I would start with a 600 grit, 800 grit, and finish with a 2000 grit and then use an etching primer and paint it. This is way more work than it's worth lol. Kinda too late to turn back now though.

    Ahhh...
I was on my third attempt at painting before I tried the bleach; kept flaking after about a year. On the previous attempts, I had scuffed it down to the metals in spots.

I agree that painting over chrome is not ideal and won't last forever. I hope to be able to find a TRD Pro grill at some point so this is just to hold me over until then. I just hate chrome lol. I'd love to take the headlights apart, strip the chrome, and paint them body color inside as well.

Has anyone used or heard of anyone use the seat covers available through your local Toyota dealer? If so, are they legit ?

Lol. I didn't get it with the tacoma, she pushed for me to sell my ram for it. When I bought her 4runner I stopped to see the truck at 3am. Came home to sleep, woke up and she was gone so I went back to see what the deal was with it. I text her to let her know I was "running to the store". Came home 5 hours later with her truck lol. In my defense I didn't tell her what store I was going to

Looks really nice. I have the same truck but the OffRoad. I really like the running boards and the color matched fenders of your truck.

Both look really nice. I got a quote on the A.R.E. MX bc I might want the full height door on my next topper. It isn't available yet so I get to wait. I really like those but not sure if I would want to give up having a tailgate.
