When I first got my 1st gen, within a week of having it I parked in a parking space near a fire hydrant. When I got back in and went to back up, I mistakenly put it into drive (manual trans, instead of reverse I had it in 3rd I think) and when I hit the gas I barreled right into the hydrant. Knocked it over and smashed my passenger side door. FML

Slammed on my brakes and my kayak jettison out of the top rack, bounced on my hood and rear ended the car in front of me.

A couple months ago I got home from work, parked my truck in the driveway and went inside to get cleaned up. My wife and son got home 45 minutes later and asked me why my truck was in the corner of the yard. Apparently I did not put my ebrake on or put the truck in gear. It rolled down the driveway, hitting my mailbox, went backward down my street, re-entered my yard and hit a telephone pole. $4000 in damage to the truck, luckily nobody was hurt.

I thought a snow bank looked fun to plow into. Unfortunately, my skid plate acted as a ramp and I slid right up on the snow bank with all 4 wheels off the ground. She looked a bit embarrassed! Wasted first 2 hours of my snowboarding trip digging out the snow under my truck.

Turned in to neighborhood, snow covered icy road, curbed my front tire hard and bent the wheel and damaged a wheel bearing. That was the crap Dunlops that came on the SR5's. So I replaced the bearing, picked up a used set of TRD wheels and bought some BFG Rugged Terrains. Never had another problem with traction.

I ran my friend over. I was stationed in PR at the time. A bunch of us had been at the beach all day hanging out and having beers. If the waves sucked we would just chill at the beach since most of us lived in barracks. Towards end of the day my buddy asked for a lift back to the barracks before everyone went out for the night. My buddy said he'd just hop in the bed of my truck. I said no prob as it was only a few minutes away. I told him I'd stop before we got to the front gate so he could hop out since you couldn't drive on base with a person in bed of truck.

We got a couple hundred yards from the gate and I started to slow down. I yelled to my buddy that I was about to stop. Right then I saw an object in my driver side mirror. I immediately realized it was my buddy jumping out of my truck as I was still going about 25 mph. I slammed my brakes and felt my truck hit a bump. driver side rear of the truck was up like it was on a speed bump. I jumped out of my truck thinking I just killed my friend. I shit you not my tire was resting on his shoulder with the weight of the left rear on him. If I had gone another foot it would've gone right over his face. My buddy was shitfaced and said in a super calm voice, "dude just back up" I couldn't believe it. I hoped back in and moved my truck. He got up with nothing wrong except his back was scraped up.

I still don't think he realized how lucky he was. I must've asked him a thousand times why he jumped out. He thought I said to jump out since he was so drunk. That was the last time I've had anyone in the bed of my truck. This was in a single cab 4 cyl Ranger by the way. Probably the reason he didn't get hurt worse since it was such a light vehicle. This happened over a decade ago and it still amazes me to this day he was totally fine.

The first week I owned my Tacoma I was getting used to the backup camera. In the summer at work I park in the parking garage. Being a typical guy, I like to back into the spaces. I get to work early, so I get a great spot against the outside wall near the stairs. I was backing up slowly watching the camera and my foot slipped off the brake....SLAM! Moved forward a little and checked for damage....bumper was pushed in about 1" on the drivers side (must not have backed in perfectly straight). Anyway, after work I slipped a tow strap through the bumper and slowly pulled it back. No residual damage...but kinda funny.

a few weeks ago I let me 2 & 5 year old play in the taco while I was washing it. of course they pushed every button and messed up all my settings.

the next day I was 30 miles down the Interstate doing 75 mph and I notice the 4WD light is on. DAMNIT! the little buggers put the truck in 4HI.

    Errrrrr :annoyed:

Drove through my garage door after replacing my brake pads about 3 months after getting my gen I (bought it used)... Forgot to pump brakes after. Before you ask... yes, alcohol was involved.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Snow and ice covered road stopped at traffic light to make right turn. Made turn, straightened steering wheel but truck continued turning right and nosed dived into the curb about 4 mph. I don't think I had it in 4wd but still that was my clue the stock Dunflops had to go. No trouble since.

    AND

Before I had this truck, I had a red 98 Prerunner and the dumbest thing I did was reverse right into a brand new F-150. It was at my house, it was dark, I reversed like I did a hundred times, only this time without looking. And I didn't realize we had company over. So I smashed right into their truck. Luckily I went out with a broken taillight and the F-150 got a very small dent by the wheel. Since it was a family friend he said not to worry about it (thank god) and he said it gave it character.

    2 things:

First time, out of the hundreds of times Ive hooked up a trailer, this time I guess I chose not to latch the hitch. Began loading up a car, and up went the tongue, and my tailgate. Luckily no damge but a couple black marks in the paint around the tailgate handle.

Second time. Little backstory, where I work, I can see my truck from my desk. I parked next to our tractor, in my usual spot. Thinking to myself, "I sure hope they dont back into my truck" Well, I see one of my guys trying to start the tractor (glow plug warmer didnt work so a little ether was in use) and he was spraying ether and hitting the key at the same time, not on the tractor. I'm just sitting here watching the tractor cruising backwards straight into my truck. It was in gear.
