I'm not having a problem at 75 mph either, two 350 round trips to the mountains in the western part of VA and the truck selected a gear and pretty much stayed for the most part for the climbs and back up to 6th at the peak and flats.

Those trips are about the only time using cruise control, most daily driving is done at 60-70 mph depending on traffic, truck still stays in the same gear. Truck has just over 4k miles on it.

Ok, I was going to have to create a YouTube account to upload it anyway, so I'll skip it. I had no issues at all, she purred in 6th the whole time, and I did all of this utilizing the dreaded cruise control that everyone seems to loathe so much.
I do feel bad for any of you guys having issues, I realize it has to be very frustrating and discouraging. I do a good amount of highway driving, I wonder if it's the adaptive transmission that is working well for me?

Nothing fancy, yet. Weathertech mats front/back + their mud guards, some reflective striping and custom carpets on the storage bin lids underneath the jump seats.
Stock everything, 2016 Tacoma SR5 V6, automatic 2WD with the correct transmission fluid level verified personally.
Nothing in the bed. No trailer. Just me in the truck. AC off, windows up.

It was a comfortably warm, sunny day here in Georgia so I took a drive up the interstate until I reached a known portion of road with a steady downhill to a bridge and an equally steady uphill past the bridge. The truck was completely warmed up and the cruise set at 75mph at the top of the 1st grade. It held 75mph in 6th down to the bridge and then shifted to 5th not long after the uphill grade began. The hill is a steady pull for 1/2- 3/4 mile before leveling off again. It stayed in 5th the entire grade up, shifted into 6th at the top and was good to go.
For the sake of the test, I set the cruise at 70mph on the way back (and got passed by what seemed like 1,456 cars :annoyed:).
I have no way of measuring the grades. They are fairly equal, though.
It ran down the hill to the bridge at 70mpg in 6th, across and all the way up the next hill with no gear changes.
A funny thing happened, however. As the second grade leveled out,
I observed the truck merrily running along at a digitally indicated, cruise control maintained 69mph, not 70mph like it'd been set initially.

Here are the videos. I apologize for the quality. It's an old Canon G3, not a high-res Go Pro. =)

The shift points in my 2016 4x4 are terrible, and it's this is clear this causing poor mileage 17mpg. My 2005 Gen2 (230000mi) is still getting 18.5 on the same 35 mile highway to work. Any lawyers around? Could this be grounds for a class action?

How long have you had the truck, how fast are you going are you complaining about the shift points in cruise control, normal accelleration, with ECT on or off?

Any mods to the truck such as additional weight or tires?

What exactly would you be looking for in the class action suit? You would likely have to replicate the fuel economy tests exactly as the factory over a wide range of trucks with results falling out of an acceptable amount of error then prove Toyota willingly covered up their test results.

Ive had mine for 8 months. It bangs into gear when going from reverse to drive and rolling through stop signs. Already had my 2nd service done and brought up tranny issues once again. After they shunned me the first time i checked n added 1litre of fluid myself. This time, I know theres a tsb for tranny slipping between 2nd and 3rd so after them playing dumb they told me the transmission software update is not for my v6 auto w tow package. Hopefully an update comes soon so it doesnt damage the tranny too bad. Its frustrating.
My question is: can i "flash my ecu" myself by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes?
    Anyone tried this themself?

But there is a distinct difference in throttle response curves with ect on and off. I believe they have put a exponential throttle curve to save gas by default then it goes linear when ect is on. Just my .02. So that fix would be much easier.

Literally, i can be accelerating at 10% throttle and engage ect and feel an acceleration and rpm pickup all while in the same gear. I am used to using throttle curves on rc models but usually to the opposite extent.. To make it more responsive at low end.

I have this same slip when its shifting gears but only when cold and my fluid level is good..the worst part is that we just need the service managers to communicate to toyota that we are having issues and they probably arent. Pisses me off.

Why bother with all that? if you don't like it, sell it and move on. Many here appear
to dislike or are very disappointed with the new truck so....why keep it, hoping it will
change? It won't. Were I as unhappy as some of you seem the truck would have
been gone long ago, loss or not. I'd never keep a brand new vehicle I was displeased with.

Tires, soon to be shocks, bushings, and bull bar. No lift, not needed.
What's this you're saying? I haven't heard of that! Would it fix the similar issue the 05 model has?

Not all of us value money as little as you do it seems.

You're telling people to take a $5k loss (more in some cases). That math doesn't work out for most folks. But if you have $5k to throw away I'll send you my paypal account.

And don't act like you don't benefit from people complaining. We are the reason Toyota will eventually fix their product and make an even more robust one in the future.

One thing I like about Tacoma World is that it is relatively politics-free. Tacoma owners don't tend to share a common political leaning. I see people of all political persuasions driving Tacos.

    +1..

I too come from the RC model hobby and have to agree 100% with you. The throttle definitely feels like it has EXPO built into it.
