Thanls. The ride is excellent. Better than the tx Baja suspension. Without the weight of the bumper and winch it would be too stiff but for my setup it's perfect. Feels good on speed bumps pot hole etc. Handles the beach at 40-50mph great as well.

Just what I'm looking for. Think I'll be getting them very soon. What are you running the the rear for a lift n shock?

Longer is correct, but I imagine 700 will suit you better. You added 200lbs already, plus you want to add more armor. I think stock is something like 550, so if you do the math. Stock can support 1100. 650s can support 1300. 700s can support 1400. If you are going to add any more weight you need the 700s. Disclaimer: I may not totally know what I'm talking about.

PS - Nice chicken you got back there....

I'm running game the allpro expo leafs and bilstein 5160s in the rear mostly because the length and valving were perfect for my need.
    (Lower Mount Type: Eye 12.1mm
    Upper Mount Type: Stem
    Collapsed Length (IN): 15.91
    Extended Length (IN): 27.46)
Its a little stiff right in the rear right now but the new bumper w/tire gate comes in a few days and then it should be right on.

    Edit- plus timbren bumps
Also for rear shocks $ was a concern

Negative but I would not mind an aluminum skid down there.

Thanks. Not sure which way to go rear lift wise. Currently 1.25 block (was on from dealer at putchase) Was looking at allpro standards. I dont haul but who's to say i don't have a quad or sled next year. Dakars definitely out of the question. I may just go with the allpro 3 progressive for now.

I would be careful about Expo's. I ran them for a while and they are stiff as FUCK! So unless you are going to be running at minimum 250# in the bed at all times, it can be extremely jarring. Even after they are broken in, they are still stiff unloaded. The only time they felt smooth as butter was when I had a boat load of gear in the bed along with my (literally) box of rocks and dirt I used to weight the bed down, probably had about 500# of weight in the bed, and then my rear end rode so smoothly, it was beautiful.

Otherwise if you don't give a fuck about back problems or whiplash, you can rock the Expo's unloaded for about 5" of lift in the rear. Just make sure to get a longer shock, the BAMF rear shock tower replacement works great with the Expos and a 12" shock

I hear ya. My truck is my DD so the more comfy the ride the better. I may even keep the 1.25" blocks for now and just add some OME shocks for they ride decent and I do not need all this extra flex and everything that comes along with it for my driving habits. At most maybe add a 3 leaf progressive down the road. Shopping for Kings 700# as we speak and after a couple phone calls we're talking 2g Canadian (not installed though I'd install myself)

Ouch! i think mine were 1425 out the door from DownSouthM shipped in the US. Still hurt the wallet but that purchase was worth it. A ton of people on here swear by OME as well, i never hear anyone complaining about them. I've heard a number of others on TW with the same sentiment about the expos as Volcom, so there is probably something valid there. i've got 3.5" in the rear carrying a 60"Hilift and a shovel in the bed. i expect 3" with the new bumper and a better ride.

Well depending on shipping cost I may go with Kings 700#, Wheeler's progressive AAL, and OME N182. Waiting to hear back from Dan at Wheeler's. Darn exchange rate now is the pits. :annoyed:

    Whole lotta stuff
Hell no, the 5160s are not a 12" travel shock. Last I checked, they measured around 14 collapsed, around 23 extended, or about 9" of travel.
Now the 5165s, yes, those are available in difference lengths.

To those considering this shock for extended travel uses, be aware that you choose the appropriate travel length. The regular 5160 shock that is normally recommended for the Tacoma, the same shock seen on the TRD Pro and late TX models, is only designed for about 0-1" of rear lift. If you have a leaf pack that exceeds that, you risk maxing out your shock travel. Remember your shock isn't designed for holding the weight of your axle.

To confirm I believe the N182 rear shock is suitable with the 1.5"-2" lift provided from Wheeler's Progressive AAL?

I would recommend you stick to the same shock on all sides. Every shock has different handling characteristics and mixing and matching usually doesn't work out so great. I would just get some extended length Kings for the back as well. I mean, 12" smoothies for me was only $600. have you checked with @Downsouth Motorsports ? They usually recommend good stuff for what you want to do at a reasonable price, and if you tell them your exact setup they can peg your valving pretty spot on for your shocks, as opposed to pretty much every other shop that's gonna just give you whatever is coming off of the shelf.

    Here ya go ,
    they're made for jeeps (don't tell anyone:eek:)
    http://www.shockwarehouse.com/site/product.cfm?id=925299

Edit- wanted to point something out I learned while researching for my suspension. IMHO from what I gleaned exhausting TW threads and speaking get to shock companies full extension isn't going to hurt the shock. The major concern is over compressing the shock so you have to measure carefully before you order.

Disclosure: I am by no means an expert in the his matter

Those will actually work with 1.5-2" in rear? From what I've read they're good for 0-1" lift.
