After about two months of waiting for parts, my leafs finally got installed today. I gained about a half inch and noticed this while taking the measurements...image.jpg
Always double check. It's a damn good thing I didn't have my sone with me while I was driving on this shoddy job.

That's the kind of crap I'm talking about. Some guys are more worried about getting stuff done so fast they don't really care about the customer. I'm just particular about my things and I hate just sending in the back with who knows and what's the dealer going to actually do to fix what they screw up... Absolutely nothing! You name it scratched wheels, door dings, broken transfer case guard and the list goes on. If anyone can recommend a deal in the SoCal area that they can vouch for let me know. Glad you made it home safe and that you double checked it.

I'm not sure that much could have happened but, it sure as hell pissed me off when I saw it. I think the centering pin and the u-bolts would have kept it in place fairly well. It just wasn't right. Good thing I was heading straight home, with a pit stop at Lowes for longer centering pins) to reinstall the bolt flip and AAL.

I just picked up some grade 8 3/8-16X3.5" from Lowes on the way home from the dealer today. I think it was a little over $5 out the door. Tried Napa and Auto Zone and neither had anything that I could use.

3.5" worked for Icon Progressive and the overload.

Looks like I left enough to meat to add the additional leaf on the center pin and my flip ubolts. Just have to decide if I'm going to relinquish control

Called the dealership today and they said they have to do inspection first, bummer. If the graphic that was posted earlier in the thread is what they're going by to see if it qualifies, then my truck does qualify.

Im wanting to lift my truck with an AAL in the rear, does anyone know after the recall is performed if I need to look for a specific kit that will work with the new leaf spring pack or can I just use the same ?

I just had the recall completed and installed my Icon progressive AAL a couple hours later. The only thing you will need is longer U-bolts depending on the thickness of your AAL and they should have come with it.

Look back a few posts. But yes they will fit w/o removal of additional spring clamps. Photos were also posted verifying fit.

Mine is at the stealer getting the springs done. They already are giving me crap about my airbags, after I told them they were on there 3 weeks ago.

Any of you that have reported having had a spring break can you tell me where it broke? Meaning front, rear or somewhere in the middle. Trying to see if is consistent and if it's in an area that might be beefed up with the aal on my truck. Thanks in advance.

This is just like calling Charter Communications when you have a TV or internet problem. Before you make any progress, you have to reboot the cable box 3 times, plug and unplug everything, check the cables, check another TV, ask a neighbor if their service is down, etc. They have a recipe for you to follow, and the idiot call-center employees are going to follow that recipe to the letter, possibly even duplicating steps to be sure...

I received my final letter that remedy was available, called them, and they said that they had to inspect. However, they said they had several sets of springs in stock and that if no run on them occurs, they will replace at the same time assuming they meet the specs (they match the pic with 3 clips so there is no doubt with me.)

    Lol exactly how it works.
My dealership said they had a run on them cause of the recall and would have to order them once it's inspected. Mine matches the 3 clip one as well.

Well I'm back at the dealership. They called a couple days ago saying Toyota released new torque specs and stated they need to do an alignment. Best part is they are throwing in a free tank of gas and car wash.

I'm sure others will be asking - do you have a copy/source of the new bulletin?? The need for alignment has been discussed in detail here .... I'm also considering do some rear leaf work and would very much like new axle ubolt torque specs if available (Last I heard it was 65ft lbs?)

    Regards

They didn't seem concerned about mine either, but when the springs come in and my trucks at the dealership I guarantee you there will be a huge problem. But I'm half empty haha

got several notices in the mail about this, been meaning to take it in for a replacement but after reading comments i think ill reconsider.

I have the 6 clip tsb and aal. Doesnt sound it is to my advantage to make the swap and work to reinstall the aal.

I'm not sure about any of the new specs. He said that Toyota wanted him to call everyone who already had the leafs replaced and have them come back in. All the paperwork he gave me says is, reinspect for EO2.

They charged me $75 to take the lower airbag mounts loose.
