If GA has a better record, I change my avatar to a Bama pic of your choosing. If UT has a better record, you change your avatar to a pic of my log

Be careful with App State this year UT. You saw what they did to Meeeeeechigan. They still haven't recovered.

That was a really good, well coached team.

and I am serious about those loses. (sorry).

I think those are winnable games for each one of those teams, with exception to UK. I think they may get lucky. I do like Dodds though. (QB's name, right?)

Dobbs* has done well and aids our running game, which everyone continues to underestimate. If he comes out with a better down field passing ability this year, then we will be great.

I don't know how you think VA tech will compete, given we return virtually the entire team from this year that walked in to Tuscaloosa and went toe to toe with the deserving national champions? The amount of experience and depth that we have is top notch. Since we were so thin for years of crap recruiting, Butch played his young players early since arriving, which means all of those kids are juniors and seniors with 2+ years experience.

I don't know who GATA is?

UGA and Bama will be tough tough games. Bama because it's Bama, enough said. But playing at UGA always sucks even though I truly believe we are the better team this year. Our new D/C Shoop is the real deal, from Penn state, have you heard of him? I think we'll exploit the one-dimensional bull dogs defensively and shut them down. Our D-line has a unit that will seriously out-weigh their offensive line. We have the #1 Juco player in DE Kongbo that will play along veteran Barnett. They will be backed by Corey Vereen who has exceptional stats through 3 years. We have two defensive tackles that are men among boys, Mckenzie and King Tutt... 320 and 345 pounds respectively. We will have 7 seniors in our defensive rotation and 9 juniors/juco.

Our offense is filthy regardless, finally we have a deep veteran line and we have a 3 man running game. No need to go off anymore there.

A&M COULD have been a solid competitor this year, however they are in turmoil while losing stars left and right. Playing away in the SEC against a mid-level team is always tough though, however i bet Vegas has us by at least a touchdown come kick-off.

And on a side-note, ESPN FPI has us favored in every game this year. With GA actually being the closest one......

Va Tech is just that team, that plays surprisingly well in the beginning of the season, just ask Ohio State....

    GATA is Florida.

A&M still has solid players, and a good coach.

    ESPN is garbage.

as far as your comparisons to UGA, I think you will be unpleasantly surprised how quickly K. Smart gets that team rolling.

I hope the actual Alabama team doesn't take us as lightly as you do. I'm not the redneck that runs around screaming "it feels like '98!!" when UT wins their first game of the year against Nevada St or some bull. I watch football, every team that's worth a damn.

    So tell me this.
Do you think we are a better team (talent, experience, depth, and coaching all together) than..

    Florida
    GA
    VA tech
    UK
    A&M
    Bama
    ?

It's one thing to think we will lose the game on a whim, but to say that all of those teams, other than Bama, has a better team than us this year top to bottom, is down right insane. And I would have to question how much you really watch and study the sport.

Florida -- Similar in Talent, Depth. I feel like McElwain is a better coach.
GA -- MORE talent (Its Georgia....lol) Similar depth. I cant speak on coaching because well....K.Smart is new.
VA tech -- less talent. Less depth. Lesser coach. But, they are always good for one strange win. I feel like UT is at a stage of growth right now where they are vulnerable to this.
UK -- Less talent, but not much. Stoops is pulling in some impressive players. Not as deep, and the coaching feels like its about the same, really.
A&M -- Similar talent, if not just a tad more so. Similar depth, and until Butch pulls off a big win against a big time competitor, I feel like the coaches are closely matched.
Bama -- way more talented, way, way deeper. Coaches aren't comparable. However, Tennessee always gets up for this game, and plays like a National Championship team.

I watch. Don't question my knowledge or whatever, because I question a UT team that hasn't done shit for decades. Butch Jones has stumbled through this, and it is respectable that he is still there. Most of it isn't even his fault. Yes, he has improved the win column, but so what? That's not hard to do 1. in the East and 2. when your team was previously coached by Dooley. I never underestimate UT. Right now, they are in the awkward pubescent stage of being dominant again. They win some games they shouldn't, and lose some games they shouldn't. That's the sole reason I have said that Va Tech can beat em. Its completely a game that UT should win, but they very well may not. I know this can be said for most, if not all CFB teams, but there were some tough games last year for UT to swallow losing. Hopefully B. Jones has used them as a learning/motivation tool to finish the games.

I do think UT is better than Auburn. So, there's that.

I didn't mean for anything to come of as disrespectful, and your reply read in a way that you felt I was being so.

I realized I left out experience so I will add that down here.

    Florida: Same experience.
UGA: Same, those kids have been there under Richt, who had them playing well. SECCG's
Va Tech: nowhere close to the experience UT has right now.
UK: I think Stoops has been impressive. I think he runs a good program and they have quite a bit of experience.
A&M: Coming from the Big12, and now in the SEC for a few years, knocking of powerhouses and playing in the west, they are just as seasoned.

Yes, UGA lost to UT last year. For the first time in how many years? And it took one of the top 3 backs in the country tearing 3 ligaments in his knee at that God Awful stadium of yours for you guys to pull it out.

I realize y'all are talking about next year and, at Tennessee lately, there's always next year... but it's sometimes fun to look at the last few years, too:

    O-Line
Florida has a very young thin O-line aside from a talented Ivey. We also have a 5 star O-lineman in Drew Richmond. Jashon Robertson was a 2014 freshman all american on most polls, and was on multiple all sec second teams polls in 2015. He's a two year starter. Coleman Thomas was the Offensive lineman of the week last year, and is already on watch lists for this year. He's a two year starter. Dylan Wiesman is going into his senior season with 36 games under his belt.

I would like to say advantage TN, but I know you'll disagree so I'll even give you that one; EVEN

    Running Back / QB:
    Hurd (UT)over Scarlett
    Kamara (UT) over Cronkite

Dobbs (UT) over Del Rio (not proven at all, especially the SEC)

    Advantage: UT

    WR/TE:
    Calloway over Malone
    Williams (UT) over Fulwood
    Smith (UT) over Powell

    Wolf/Croom (UT) over Goolsby

    Advantage: UT

    D-Line:
I won't even bother writing this part out because it's not even close. Feel free to go look at our defensive depth chart. Any analyst will tell you that we will be at the top defensively with Bama and LSU.

    DB's/LB's:
I match up Tabor and Sutton even, although Sutton is higher on every draft board you will see. LB is even if not in Ut's favor. And we have one hell of a Safety in Todd Kelly Jr. But to make you happy I will say..

    Even

I'll even give them the edge on special teams. But as far as match-ups go, UT is a more talented team than Florida top to bottom. We were last year too, just couldn't finish the game. And missed the game winning field goal literally by inches.

And why exactly do you think Bama is "way" more talented? I will pick Bama to win, but LSU has more talent than Bama does this year. Bama doesn't even have a quarterback? And don't say BB or Bateman, you know damn well Blake will not have a good first year in the SEC west of all places.

For the first time ever, I am not impressed by the RB situation at bama. You have a filthy WR in Ridley and the best TE in Howard, but can you get them the ball this year? The O-line has 2 very solid players in Warmack and Robinson but the rest need to prove something this year.

Reuben Foster is sick. The D-line is not as deep as normal, and you have holes in your secondary. This year will not be the typical Bama season. They have the best coach of all time and they will still pull out a lot of wins this year, but it won't be in dominating fashion as it has been, and it won't be every game. I see them losing two and I don't think they make it to the playoff this year. As always though, they'll be back next year loaded as ever and they will be until Saban retires.

Since Kentucky snapped out impressive winning streak, we have beat them into the ground. They aren't even close to on our level. Won't be close just like it hasn't in the last few years.

I know you are high on Kirby, as am I, but this is a a transition period.... as well as a down year. Take a look at their depth chart online. They have a ton of young talent right now and it will take them this year to adjust. I fully expect them to get back to form by the following year.

I disagree with your assessment of Alabama's secondary. This article articulates it better than I can: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-its-biggest-weakness-to-its-biggest-strength

Also, don't forget about Tim Williams. He's a monster who devours quarterbacks.

I never worry about running backs at Alabama, and Bo is a beast. He and Gore will be OK.

Our biggest weakness will be protecting the quarterback, especially if damn Cam Robinson is in prison instead of on the football field. I don't know who will start at QB, but I've given up hoping that we have an all-SEC quarterback. The last several first-year starters have done alright: McElroy (won NC), McCarron (won NC), Blake Sims (SECC MVP, made playoffs), Jake Coker (won NC).

Great post @GBO_vols . I can tell you, that bama is WAY more talented, because, they simply are. Top recruiting classes for half a decade. Still going strong. All I am saying is, Tennessee isn't THERE, until they ARE.

That is, until they start knocking off big time teams, and making it to the SECCG, they aren't THERE yet. Butch Jones has to orchestrate the talent his IS getting, and FINISH. Once he does, and they do, then they will have arrived. Until that happens, they will continue to be considered a mid level SEC team.
