special tool? C-clamp, pry bar, block-o-wood all do the trick pretty darn easily. Also there's no reason to bleed the lines when you're just adding pads and rotors.

Cam and I are installing longer lines, which will require the full bleed because we're opening up the system. We've been putting this off for just about a year now.

Gusset all the things!
They're on the list but aren't that high up. I'd make them a priority if I used the skinny pedal more, I drive this thing like a grandpa walking over eggshells. I'm all for beefing things up but they got cut out of this years budget. Just means I have more reason to be careful out there.

 

O'Reilly's sells a tool that separates the caliper for like $14 so it wasn't bad just makes it really quick and easy. I guess thats another way of doing it!

Are talking about rear brake lines or front?

Ahh gotcha. I know the spindle is pretty easy to bend so thats why im doing that now, but need cam tab gussets cause mine are really worn out.. Like it won't hold an alignment. I don't think ill do coil bucket gussets right away but sometime in the future

 

I remember Skygear (dude who fucked over alot of members) did a brake change that was interesting. Cant remember all the details on it but I know he fit in bigger rotors and calipers to pretty much the biggest you could fit in a 2nd gen.

Realistically Ill just do either what TacoStig and Brian did or go with one of the EBC stage something kits. Just depends how much money i feel like spending when i get around to doing them (which hopefully will still be awhile)


TacoStig and Greddy did you already order longer rear lines? I actually have (3) lines (dont ask) that are 24" from the ongoing group buy here. I ended up going with a pair from Wheelers so these are just sitting (on my dining room table....next to that taillight....)

And changing them out is easy as can. Even bleeding is incredibly easy....well for those of us with the electronic brake booster. Takes about 10 seconds at each wheel. Took me longer to get the damn wrench and hose on the bleeder than to bleed them. One of these "mod days" Ill have to come over

Yeah theres always something to do on the house. But so worth it. Love being able to do whatever I want to the house without having to ask a landlord.

As for the shed....its a 16x12. Its going pretty slowly but I only get 1-2 hours to work on it at night. And after working I havent always felt up to it. Plus it has been solely me working on it minus about an hour my gf helped. Just bad timing on the help as my mom and dad would help but have been out of town and the gf has to stay close to the hospital in case a patient goes into labor.

But this is where Im at now. Hopefully get it roofed by this weekend. Then painted. Then do the trim. Then build the door. Then move on to the next project lol

 

Ah ic ic, special tools are great to have if you find yourself doing the job a lot. But when you only need to do it every 2 or 3 years spending a few extra mins being macgyver isn't that bad. My ridiculous and overthought methodology tells me to save that $14 and put it towards taking the edge off other mods. Summed up, I'm a cheapass.. but also spend a lot of money at the same time. I know... I know...

Extended Front and Rear.

Spindle will get addressed first, every time I look at that thing it just looks bent due to the weird design. I think I'll run a few beads behind the stock cam tabs, mine are in perfect shape so a little reinforcement should help out. I still need to get the motor mounts gusseted, I'm a 2005 after all.

The shed is looking great! Which route are you going for roofing?

Regarding brake lines, I'll have to measure the ones I have kicking around. They came with my expos and I have a feeling they weren't that much longer than stock. With the shackle flip I get more droop than allpro expected me to get so I may be interested.

 

haha oh okay thats true. Idk I like taking the easy way even if its costs a few bucks more, to me its worth it.

Why are you swapping out the fronts? They are long enough at full droop..

Do you have to take the front diff out for the motor gussets? Or just makes it a lot easier with that out of the way?

I feel ya, having the right tool for the job is unarguably the best.

I've always upgraded lines in all my past vehicles, you get a much more direct pedal feel. Maybe it's more noticeable in sports cars? but one thing is for sure, a steel braided line will not tear apart like a rubber line.

I'm unsure, but it would sure make it easier. That's a very tight spot to get into.

 

Last night didn't go as planned, I'll tag ya as soon as it goes together.

 

Mounted the Morimoto xtorch 40". I'm generally not a big fan of the light bar look, but this one isn't so bad. Still wish they sold covers like the rigid bars, may have to try a few out.

Dont worry you REALLY dont want to know the stupid shit we say at work at 4am. Considering what I do, some of the stuff that gets said really makes you wonder how we havent royally messed something up lol.

Although the fun today was watching contractors breaking up some concrete....and proceeding to hit a water main. Lucky for them it was right next to a drydock so a lot of the water ended up in a pretty spectacular waterfall. I would not have wanted to be the backhoe operator.



The lightbar looks pretty dang good! I do wonder if the rigid covers would work? They just snap over so i would think they do as long as they are the same thickness (or tallness?)
