Had a light come on the dash.. Then had a flat tire.. Got my jack out.. And its the wrong jack. None of the pieces will fit it. Looks like the one out of my chevy. A workmate was down the road with a Tacoma and he helped me. I put on the spare.. At what point does the light on the dash go out? And where can I get a jack for cheep? thanks

The spare doesnt have a tpms. Have someone swap that tire onto your rim then replace the spare, or plug the flat 1 if applicable and then put the spare back under the truckbed

Someone else can chime in, but I'd check a local junk yard, or pick n pull and see if any Tacomas there have one.

Note to other youngsters. And oldsters.

When you buy a used vehicle, verify all the correct flat changing equipment is present before having a flat.

And based on several threads around here commenting on the spare being frozen in place, it would be a good idea to lower it and make sure everything is working with the hoist system as it should. Then repeat annually.

Second thread in a week where the wrong jack and tools were in the truck, I think I will check mine to see if it is correct...

When i got a flat the oem 2015 knuckle breaker jack went high enough to remove the flat but not high enough to put the spare on. Scrap metal if you ask me.. i had it lifting from the lowest point too.

Where were you jacking from? I'd either jack the rear axle, or the LCA if possible.

I have a breaker bar and a deep well socket for the lug nuts in the truck but it is hard to fit a nice jack on board easily...

The spare on my 2006 DOES have a TPMS sensor! My light went on once and I had a shop I was near check which tire was low. It was the spare. They shot it up to the same pressure as the 4 on the ground, and the light went out.
Now, when I have the tires rotated at a service, I insist that the dealer check all 5 tires for pressure.

Indeed, there's a fifth TPMS sensor. Also, when it's time to replace them, do all 5 at once.

Yeah.. When I bought it, I checked that it HAD a jack.. Not if it was the right one.. darnit. I kinda need new tires anyway.. Pretty sure the ones on it are the stock bridgestones.. And have 52,000 miles. Had planned to wait til the end of the year though... So if I can find the leak, ill likely plug it

Agreed. Floor jacks are so heavy and take up so much room or i would always have 1 on hand

It was rear. Passenger side. I literally had it at the lowest point which was the flat steel plate that the u bolts anchr to below the axle. It might have worked on the diff but i didnt trust the rounded tip of the jack and the round bottom of my diff.

    Bone Stock.Why mess with perfection?Except...
Had a somewhat similar problem with OEM jack. Sounds like a good enough excuse for sliders and a hy-lift to me.

Just replaced the Original tires with Michelin Defender LTX. COSTCO is extending their sale of $70 off of 4 Michelins til July 03. The OEM Pacific brand of TPMS battery lasted 10 years. made in Japan, they are available online for $69 each. I had COSTCO replace all 5 sensors during the tire installation.(yes, the spare has a sensor in the 2006 Tacoma PreRunner Access cab V6 TRD.) COSTCO uses Dill brand of TPMS at $49 each incl CATax. Dill battery life expected to be 5 yrs. I now read these posts nightly to learn about my truck, even before my Golf magazines! Thanks TW!
