I'm slowly increasing the amount of diesel in my fuel tank in the taco. As the VVTI adapts, it'll eventually run on straight diesel. Then I'll move on to fryer oil. I'll keep you posted on my progress.

All I know is that corn gas will really screw up a chain saw, weedeaters, and some mowers, so I won't use it in them. Also, my 1949 Ford 8-N doesn't relaly like it either, it vapor locks WAY too easily due to the alcohol evaporating

Ethanol is an oxygenator added to fuel to help it burn more completely. Here in Florida we never used ethanol until about 2010. The corn lobby was indeed very happy about the mandatory use of ethanol.

Before ethanol we had a different oxygenator added to the gasoline here in Florida, it is commonly known as MTBE, which is an abbreviation for a very complicated name that I don't even pronounce well, never mind spelling it out for y'all.

Ethanol has been used up north for years but down here when we switched over to ethanol oxygenated fuel it caused major problems for consumers and even the tank distribution yards. The residue left behind by MTBE in fuel lines and in rubber gaskets had a negative effect when ethanol was introduced into the fuel systems of our toys and vehicles. The ethanol would mix with water condensation in the tanks of our vehicles and when it would run through the fuel lines laden with MTBE residue would combine and cause a corrosive effect, the fuel lines and gaskets would disintegrate and clog carburetors over and over until you changed out all the old fuel lines.

Even the gasoline tanker drivers told me that all the equipment that the ethanol was being used in was constantly having problems.

Just thought I would let you in on that. Ethanol is an oxygenator, not an octane booster, it helps emissions by helping the fuel burn more completely in the combustion chamber.

The Higher the octane = The LESS volatile, and LESS explosive it is. As in.. It resists detonation.. It is NOT more explosive. It translates to more power in higher compression engines because you can run more timing without heat predetonation. In other words, High octane doesn't explode near as easily until you apply spark. Low octane will ignite itself under heat only, and hot spots in the combustion chamber, and higher cylinder pressure, causing knock/predetonation, and beat your pistons apart. Ethanol, and e85 aren't true octane boosters. But they run cooler. E85 burns MUCH cooler than regular gas, therefore it is naturally detonation resistant because it causes less heat, therefore you can run more timing, and get more power without knock problems. But, fuel economy is much reduced because it burns much richer.. (more parts fuel per parts oxygen to reach a stoich level). I only buy Non ethanol fuel. Its more expensive, by about 20-30 cents per gallon. But I can get pure gas at several stations around here 87-91 octane. Several stations only have non eth in premium 91.

I'm half a tank through some super clear, there's a moderate increase in mileage. Not worth the price by any means.

I should add it's $1 a gallon more than premium with ethanol. I'd consider it if the price was considerably closer.

That would explain why in OK, we can get E0 all over the place but it is always 87. I can't say I've ever seen E0 in grade 88+.

I would recommend a 50/50 blend of mango and blueberry vape juice. That is what I run and I get the most performance out of that.

That doesn't sound right, but I don't know enough about fryer oil to dispute it.

It is the aquarium fuel lines that do not like ethanol. They get hard and eventually crack. A guy that repairs them told me to run premium gas with the oil mix. I always add stabilizer to my mix. As soon as I burn up the oil I have I might go to the premix.

right. ethanol cannot be measured as 'having an octane rating'

but the net result of adding it to gas is,
you end up with gasoline of a higher octane rating
    and that can be measured.
