I'm calling BS. Toyota might have heard a report of low tranny fluid but I don't think they have understood the scale of it until recently. There will always be isolated incidents, however whatever problem they have had at the plants is a big one and could be very costly down the road. Also it's easy to correct and shouldn't really take much adjustment at all unless a computer program robot is filling these things and it's set wrong. However that can't be it because different people have different levels, thus telling me they are being filled by hand as a computer will almost always be consistent. Anyways I wouldn't see it being a big deal for Toyota to make the proper adjustments and there shouldn't be much timed needed to come up with a solution or other corporate/legal crap they have to go through with a safety issue, recall, ect. Their biggest priority would be to correct the problem on the lines as fast as possible. They didn't know about this 6 months ago, and had they been searching around on TW, I'm sure it would be fixed a while ago. So I believe your wrong

I have the vibrations as well between 30 and about 10 mph. I still love the truck. But if there is a fix to get rid of it, I want it done pronto. Just got the truck about 100 miles on her.

I agree, HOWEVER, they've known of this drive line vibration, AND the cause for years. Fact is, and you probably know this all too well, the've done a cost/benefit analysis and figured out that it's cheaper than a total redesign of the vehicle and drive train to just let it go, and to fix the very few that make enough noise about it.

I had several people ride in my truck and say "that's not so bad that I would go to great pains if the dealership won't fix it". Of course it wan't their brand new truck either. Others found it as bothersome as I did. Some I've even seen online just say "meh, it's my bang around off road truck and I'll live with it". I imagine there's more than a few younger kids driving them that frankly just don't give a $hit about a little vibration or even notice it. The number of complaints registered on this forum isn't enough to motivate any company like Toyota to do any major overhaul. Finally, they know that the vast majority of consumers will simply "go away" when they don't get easy satisfaction. Same concept as these scams you see on TV offering "money back guarantee". They know the vast majority simply won't get off there butts to claim it.

Fact is, it's a damn good truck on the whole for what it is, and the issues are not a matter of safety or really performance related. And let's face it...it's not a $60-$65K full size truck all loaded with bells and whistles. The average Tacoma buyer probably is not going to complain much about a little vibration here and there. If it had an adverse effect on sales, or caused high service repair costs...they'd fix it.

    See above.

I'm not just calling Bull $h!t! I'm calling you flat pulled that slam outta your a$$!

Is is just me or does it say something about our society that we have to actually argue the point that a drive line vibration is either normal or not? Have we been spoon fed crap for so long now that our standards have dropped out of sight? With our current technology problems like this should be a thing of the past.

Drive line vibrations were NEVER a normal problem and NEVER will be, there's something wrong, PERIOD. I am so tired of our dealerships telling us that everything is just a normal characteristic, do they even fix anything anymore?

Do you have drive-line vibration on your '15?

I took mine in for the first time with this complaint. After spending the day looking at it, they told me it was "within normal operating specs." I said that may well be but this truck was not designed to have this vibration so it needs to be looked at closer, and ultimately fixed. If you go back to the original article posted in this thread about it being fixed in the 16s...that tells you they've known of this issue for a long time. See my post above about cost-benefit ratio and why it's not been totally redesigned to fix it for real.

It really help that half the Tacoma owners with the issues don't seem to care. It's like they've settled for a truck that isn't working correctly.

If everyone with the issue beat down their door they would have fixed it by now.

You know what other brand new vehicles have drive line vibrations like the rumble strip while stopping ? None. Not even $12k Hyundai shitboxes have these kinds of issues.

But for Toyota it's like "oh yea that...that's a characteristic of the vehicle ".

Then put that on your Tacoma ads. "Let's go places! And vibrate to a stop..if your ass isn't numb from the 2300rpm vibes you might feel it!"

I don't see it as a cost issue because designing a drive line like ours that doesn't vibrate is nothing new and has been done successfully many times over on similar vehicles. The research has been done, the problem is their engineer F'ed up, period and the problem made it out to the public.

Fortunately for me I don't have vibe issues in my 15 yet.

That's just it, enough people have made a compromise to justify their purchase. They either don't know or have forgotten how good things could be. Mediocre is definitely going to be a word to describe the 2010's.

What really pisses me off is how Toyota and all other manufactures let problems like this vib issue go out the door but sell us all this useless electronic crap instead. Put the money where it counts.

so far in my life of owning new cars, i would say only 1 didnt have some odd issue. from a brand new 60k dodge truck that had odd vibrations to new ford trucks and such. trucks seem to always have more issues with vibrations due to driveline angles. I have been shopping and driving 16s to try to see what all the fuss is about with these issues people talk about and the only thing i have seen is the sluggish transmission (and thats due to it trying to get the best mpg)

My 2016 TRD Off road also has a vibration under 30 mph. I noticed it the night I brought it home.

I brought this to the dealerships attention on 7/18/16 and was told that Toyota Co is aware of the vibration issue and that a recall will be announced in the future. I hope it's the near future.

They've been aware of vibrations since the 3rd or 4th year of the 2nd gen with no fix. Don't get your hopes up.

I agree completely . And this is after Mike Sweers said there are no vibes whatsoever with the 2016 .
And you wonder why I am sticking with my 2010 vibrator :annoyed:

Another 'vibrator' here. Every time I come to a stop, at about 20->15 mph I think of this thread. Happy otherwise with trans TSB done, trans fluid, grease, u-bolt torque checked. If they eventually fix this vibration and upgrade Entune (not optimistic about either) I will have the truck I thought I was buying from Toyota.

I also have a vibration issue. However, it is all the time. It doesn't matter what speed 20 mph or 70 mph. I have discussed this with my SM and he indicates Toyota is aware of the problem. He has had many discussion with his TFR and he indicates a fix would be out in about two weeks. It is now going on 5 weeks and I am still waiting. I plan on contacting the SM again on Wed (27 Jul 2016) to discuss the status of the fix. I also had a vibration when stopping caused by bad break drums. The first time they turned the drums to correct the problem and it happen again within two weeks. I informed the SM I had read on the thread that Toyota had received a bad lot of drums and would replace the defective drums with new ones. The new ones have a different part number. They were replaced and now everything to date is fine with the brakes. I am also pleased with the trans TSB update, trans fluid level check, u-bolt greased and torque checked. When the vibration and upgrade to Entune is implemented, which I understand the Entune is hardware problem and can only be fixed by replacing the radio. I will have a truck worth what I paid. The only other thing I can say is if the vibration fix is as good as the Transmission they will have a home run for me. Unless some of the other problems listed throughout the threads happen to my vehicle. As a side note the vibration from 20->15 mph could be a break drum issue.

Could be, unfortunately though for a lot of us (I believe), it happens even when not braking. I feel it in slow traffic if I just drive along in that range in 2nd gear.

Just dropped mine off yesterday for the same issue. Centennial Toyota of Las Vegas, NV. Mine is just as you described but also pretty constant as I'm cruising at 45 or 55. Today they told me that they couldn't duplicate it (surprise, surprise...). I politely drove over there and took my truck out with a technician who wouldn't stop spewing canned phrases about "off-road suspension vibrates" or "tires vibrate" or whatever nonsense. I honestly didn't even feel like he believed the stuff he was saying. But after a couple blocks of decelerating through 25mph and me asking "how is that normal for anything, when it didn't do it the day I bought it?". In the end he sort of reluctantly agreed it wasn't right but sort of dismissively.

I was also trying to get the transmission TSB done because I'm not happy about the cruise control and they wouldn't do it.

They did offer to open a case with the regional DSM or whoever so I left the truck with them and expect a phone call on Monday.
