So you have extenders or something that you built into them so they can reach across?

Just a generic crossbar that mounts to the rack and crosses over.

Isn't it no longer usable as a roof rack then? The reason the bars won't stow is the access cab roof is wider than long. Do they still go across and click in?

Edit: just saw your reply. So the oem roof rack no longer functions basically.

It functions but it no longer reaches to the other side. It still provides a mounting point for an aftermarket cross bar. I've been toying with the idea of getting another OEM roof rack just for the bars and modifying a portion of those to slide in the swing out part to make it long enough to make the other side. Kind of like an adjustable table leg. That's a dream and would be down the road through.

Ahh. I just leave mine out all the time. I'm not a fan of the look without the bars across.

Yeah I'm the opposite, I like the stowed look.

Hell yeah. Gotta thank you for the inspiration to finally do the mod. It bummed me out when I found out the factory rack was only for the double cab.

No problem I was happy to provide the info from the guys writeup for everyone. Mine is still holding up nice after all these years. You can see the seam more due to the matte color the epoxy has taken on from being years in the weather but other than that its 100%

I hit my seam with a small stipe of plastidip and it masked that real well.

toyloader, 3'' rough country lift, 33'' tires on stock rims (the rub), Kryptec molle seat covers, i have a trifold ramp for the truckbed, did have a trifold tonoue but it broke, K&N cold air intake.
What size, brand/type of tires are those. Do they rub? I have a 3 inch suspension and i got the same model tires my 2012 access cab trd off road came with only bigger. They rubbed pretty hard on the stock wheels so i had to go out and buy offset wheels but I like your tires on this photo and was thinking of putting back my stock ones like you have if those tires don't rub. Please let me know. BTW your roof rack is pretty sweet.

Not sure if your talking to me but mine are BFG/MT 285/75/16 on the trail team FJ wheels. No rubbing.

You can cut abs with anything from a pruning saw to a chainsaw. I'd use either a Dremel or a hacksaw but in either case cut only one surface at a time keeping your cut in plane with that surface and rotating to the next surface as each is cut through. This will minimize the blade grabbing a perpendicular, sticking and snapping it.
