I can live off one check if I do so in a relatively frugal manner. I'll typically use a small amount of the second one to supplement that so I can enjoy things a little more. The rest goes to savings unless I have some sort of home improvement project that I plan to use it for or it's an expense that doesn't happen every month (buying pellets for the winter, etc.).

It forces me to plan ahead. If I anticipate needing extra for something big, I won't transfer as much to savings for a while to boost my checking to cover it. I won't touch my savings, so it forces me to plan ahead. The way I treat that is if I were to lose my job, it's there for me to survive off of for a while. Alternatively, if something huge and very unexpected came up, I could cover it, but that's never happened.

That said, I don't really budget like you do, so you have a clear advantage there. I always just charge food, gas, etc. and pay that in full every month. Sometimes I look at the numbers I spent on food and it's scary.

So Jason has received his bushing. Does anyone feel like hosting a mod/repair day so we can get in installed?

Yeah, I have a nest egg set up to cover any big expenses or something of that nature. I was so upset when my truck got totaled since I had planned on paying it off at the end of the summer with the leftover money I made selling my Subaru since the Vette cost less.

As far as charging the items, what I did was monitor every dollar I spent over a given month and then built my budget around that. Then I had and idea of what I could allot myself each week for various items. If I had money leftover, I keep it in a jar. If I have something come up of a week and need to overspend, I hit my jar and log it in my budgeting spreadsheet and then use overage as it comes up to cover it in the future.

I've discovered I can live off about $250/month in food (without resorting to pasta for every single meal), but it's not enjoyable. I like going to grab a big sandwich for lunch to get away from work for a few minutes, for instance. I spent $425 last month because of stuff like that.

Just checked out your site Scott, very nice work!
If I ever get my house sold I'm definitely going to have you do a house portrait of the new one or maybe something else to hang in it!

At $2 and change for a medium coffee it is overpriced, lol.

The local gas station sells Green Mountain, brews it better than DD, and only charges $1 for any size. So I'm spoiled.

I wish that the online retailers didn't feel the need to show me pictures of other guys wearing the underwear I'm looking at buying. I know what size I wear. All I want is a picture of the underwear itself; I could care less what it looks like cupping some other guy's junk.

    /rant.

Also, you guys are welcome to use my garage, but you'll have to drive to Maine to do it. :notsure:

So this is what I have left for Tacoma parts. If anyone wants them let me know or they are going to the dump.

Lower control arms driver and passenger
The steel hook tie down thing on the front bumper
Auto center console has a hole cut in it for winch controls
    Rear leaf pack
    Alternator
    Inner tie rod ends
    Outer tie rod ends
    Trailer wiring plug
    Bottom coil spring perch
    Ubolts a few
Hid fog lights bulbs and ballast

Only thing I want money for is the rear leaf packs $50 everything else is free .
