my wiper switch works fine, with one exception, the delay setting stays on the longest setting no matter where I turn the timer knob to. I have been living with it like that for about a year and a half since I bought the truck but figure its time to get around to finally fixing it.

my question is, where is the delay control mechanism for it? is it all done self contained within the switch itself or could it be some other component that the switch "instructs" to time delay the wipers and maybe that might be the issue?

I just wanted to be 100% sure the switch was bad and it couldnt be something else going on before I ordered a new steering column wiper control

After reading the intermittent wiper mod thread that I want to do, I have learned all the controls for the wiper are contained in that control lever. I guess you have to take the steering wheel trim off to access the "brains".

Just replace it. It's all contained in the switch. I traded my non intermittent for a intermittent one. It is all plug and play.

    wow, sticker shock lol
them damn things ain't cheap, they average from $130 and up plus shipping

starting to rethink just how important having intermittent wipers are at those prices since mine functions fine otherwise :notsure:

definitely have to think about it some more now and maybe try looking for a used one instead of new

Should be plenty of these at a wrecking yard. I replaced my non-intermittant switch to an intermittant one from a 4runner.

Myself I would live with it.

I never use that function anyway

If I did I would buy the new switch at my dealer and not think of it.

might be an issue with mine, seams the 01-04 tacos use a little different kind of switch then the rest of Toyotas and only the 98-02 carolla shares that same switch so I think I have to get only that certain one to be able to fit and work right, unlike the 89-00 tacos that use the same switch as most any other Toyota.

my switch is the "WIPER SWITCH Genuine Toyota 84652-02180"

where 98-00 tacoma and most any other Toyota use a different part number then mine

its one of the few instances where I find the 01-04 tacos aren't easier to find used parts for

I have found a used one on ebay for $30 by searching for 98-02 corolla intermittent switch (seams the prices are higher if its for a Tacoma lol) so I bought that one.

didn't want to continue ignoring it because im just anal about having stuff work correctly and this thing has been bugging me ever since I got the truck, even though I rarely ever need to use it

Sorry Keakar,,, a little thread hi-jack here if you don't mind,,,, I'm going to fix mine also, intermittent, but also mine won't "park" when you turn them off, they just stop where ever you happen to turn them off, gotten pretty good at timing it ,,,, so does anybody know if the park side is in the same piece as the intermittent?
    Mine is a 95.5 2.7l

Good question, its either in the switch, or in the wiper motor assembly.

All these fit electrically, it depends on if you have a column shifter for auto trannys.....
If you install the longer one with the intermit delay dial, it may slightly interfere with shifter...
If you dont have column shift than you can use any of them....several diff styles...
