I think if you want to trash a shitty car it's no big deal. I see why that could be fun.

Just keep in mind that you need to take it to a junkyard or sell it after, don't litter, and find a place where it is legal to do it. As long as you aren't breaking any laws and accept that you may hurt yourself without insurance, then who cares? Just be smart about it and careful.

Everybody telling him to grow up for wanting to trash some shit are some old souls haha. Who doesn't love destroying inexpensive and unimportant things? There is even a form of therapy where they give you a bat and a helmet and put you in a room to destroy stuff haha. I know a lot are just trying to help, but I don't see a problem if you follow the law, clean up, and are smart about it.

You can rent a flatbed for pretty cheap. I would recommend expecting to tow it to a yard. Also, really consider the danger factor. Car crashes are no joke so it's still a good idea to be cautious and smart. I think K1 would be a better idea personally, but I see why you came to the idea.

Dude my buddy in high school's dad worked for Bomb squad. We would go blow totaled cars up at the range all the time. That is the most fun I've had shooting in my life.

His initial intentions clearly were not this.

Seems like he was gonna take it to a yard no?

If not, he should change his intentions to this then that is fine, right?

Do this. Don't listen to all the people calling you stupid, they're just too old to understand anymore. Obviously, do your best to be safe and smart and I don't see any problem with it.

Not when he's driving it on freeways and public roads to get to the desert, which apparently was missed by some.

He can't afford to do what he wants and he wants to circumvent that issue by going around the laws, which is not something to support, particularly here.

That is why we said to tow it. Or register it for like 50 bucks. He asked for advice so people are giving it.

Plus he said he can afford 400. So he can probably afford 100-200 more it would take to register it and rent a flatbed. Just not a 500 dollar ticket.

I just thought giving advice on how to do it like @SilverBullet19 did was more constructive. Boys will be boys.

Also think @SilverBullet19 is an LEO.

No, the post was edited to leave out the "huck and chuck and leave it to rot" idea. Although him asking about the legalities of abandoning it part is still there.

AH. I missed the beginning of this thread. But if he takes it to a yard, I don't see too much of a problem. A few guys have given good advice on how to do it legally. The biggest deterrent I would face is the safety factor of a shitty car.

Better bring a good mechanic with you if you expect a $400 car to last more than 15 minutes of that kind of abuse.

Look OP, just be smart. Cheap Truck Challenge on Motortrend is the basis of this. $2000 and you either drive/tow your truck to a destination, trash it, then fix it up and try and flip it. If you want to scrap it, that's fine. Just be smart and pick up.

Being elected the president of Texas Tech's modified vehicle club last semester, I wanted to emulate a cheap truck challenge down the road, similar to you. I messaged Fred Williams, host of Dirt Every Day and 4Wheelers magazine employee, on Instagram, and he responded similar to what the (constructive) comments are saying; be responsible, have a trailer and a tow truck, don't be afraid to accept defeat, be safe and have fun. Since then, our club is in the process of raising money to become an official Tread Lightly partner, and I've personally become a volunteer at Hidden Falls and will start working their next event as a volunteer park ranger. End of story, thrashing cars is fun. Just is.

I'm a year older than you and like you (and most people who are/were our age) we still feel like death can't touch us. As long as we're not responsible for anyone else's well being, it's up for us to learn and our parents to teach us this lesson, not someone on the Internet. Not saying we go out looking for death or are going to die, I feel were not that dumb, but we have a feeling of invincibility. Comes with being young. Those who can't relate simply can't relate.

Have fun, tear shit up, be responsible about it! :mudding:

His initial thoughts were destroying it in the desert and leaving it to rot. His words. He wanted to know if the car rotting would be traced back to him. He is slowly making it seem as though he didn't plan on leaving it...

I joined the party a little late only got a glimpse of that, which I agree is stupid. I feel like it's since been reprimanded, however, and he's realized that's stupid. I could be wrong. There's some good advise on the thread though, for if he wants to pursue a cheap car.

You can make a lamp out of axle shafts and a differential, and a sofa out of an axle and the seats. Done both of these before, I'll text a buddy for pics since he has them now. Sure there are plenty of other cool projects out of random junk I haven't even thought of

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't cars mostly biodegradable? Someone is going to take this literally and think I'm a dumbass.
